It’s time to start making plans to wear your coziest jumpers and celebrate Oktoberfest by drinking your body-weight in beer!

Oktoberfest takes place in Munich, Germany, and it is an enormous celebration of the world’s favorite drink – beer. Dance around in giant beer tents sampling the country’s finest brews, eat amazing street food and get in the spirit of Autumn. The Germans really know how to party.

Festivities include traditional German costume dress competitions, beer drinking competitions, gourmet beer tasting and a Bavarian Fairground.

Oktoberfest 2017 will run from September 16 through to October 3, 2017.

Take a seat- Make sure you’re sitting if you want to order a beer

Try something new- Only local beers are offered during the festival

Learn the language- Prost means Cheers!

Say Danke (Thank you)

Bottoms up- if you place your foot on the table be prepared to chug your entire beer

Book accommodation with plenty of time ahead; Munich gets really busy for Oktoberfest

Be sure to eat regularly between beer-drinking to minimize the next day’s hangover

Head to the tents if you want a true Oktoberfest experience

Always have cash in hand- it’ll make your life much easier

Leave your purse at home (unless you want it covered in beer); use pockets instead

Tents get packed, make sure you have in/out privileges before leaving

Do your best to make it back to your hotel to sleep; don’t be a bierleichen (beer corpse)
