The Space Simple, clean and comfy w/ queen-sized bed, private bath, good shower, fridge, microwave, coffee-maker, & wireless internet. Breakfast is on your own, but why eat in your room when Foodtopia awaits you?
We are LGBTQ and straight friendly. People of Color and white people are welcome.
Our home is an urban micro-farm in the making and a land partner in Patchwork Urban Farms. We are an easy walk or bike to the River Arts District (less than 1/2 mile) and Downtown (1/2 mile to Southslope, then another few blocks to Pritchard Park). It's downhill all the way home from downtown :) You can bike to West Asheville (less than 2 miles) or UNCA (about 3 miles). We're also really close to Biltmore Village and the entrance to the Biltmore Estate (less than 2 miles).
Pet friendly for dogs with well-behaved humans (**see notes below re: dogs). Dogs count as an EXTRA guest. (So if there are two humans and one dog that's three guests altogether.)
We love Asheville & love to help others love it too. We're happy to offer guidance and suggestions or to leave you to have your own experience. Check out our guidebook for this listing.
Our place is simple and affordable but with the added bonus of a private bath and private entrance. You will be welcome and comfortable here.
(**A note for visitors with dogs: I love dogs. Absolutely love 'em. I don't provide a crate, and your dog cannot be on the bed. Yes, I will know. If your dog has never stayed in a crate before this won't be a good place to get him or her used to it. Try it at home first. I prefer you not leave your dog here while you're gone. They tend to feel stressed in a strange place, hearing strange noises. So please be prepared to take your dog with you when you go out. Asheville is a very dog-friendly town. Lot's of places with outdoor seating and a few that allow dogs inside. When you arrive there will likely be a moment of excitement when your dog meets our dog, Minnie. Expect barking and sniffing. It's a good idea to let your dog have a walk across the street after traveling and the excitement of meeting another dog in a new place. Thanks!) Guest Access You'll have your own private entrance. I usually greet guests but if for some reason I can't be at home when you need to check in, I'll leave the keys for you.
There is plenty of well lit parking right out front. Please park on the street. My housemate and I park in the driveway. I've never had cars to be vandalized or harmed when parked on the street, though, you should of course lock it. If you have bikes, we can find space for them inside.
Please observe quiet hours between 10pm and 9am. Interaction with Guests You'll be pretty self-sufficient and welcome to make your self at home in your space. Text me if you need anything or just knock on the front door.
Both the laundry room and my other guest room are downstairs but those spaces are separate from this space. The Neighborhood The South French Broad neighborhood is on the south-west fringes of downtown so it's easy to get most anywhere in Asheville. I love the urban stream right across the street, the proximity to the river and how it's perfectly situated to be a leading area for urban sustainability and urban agriculture. Getting Around Walking around is safe and easy. Minnie and I walk all the time, even after dark.
I have to admit that public transportation is not amazing in Asheville. It exists and you can get around on it but it's nothing to brag about yet.
However, we are becoming a very bicycle-friendly town. Greenways are being developed in the whole city and county for walking and biking.
I think the best deal for parking downtown is in the parking decks. City decks are usually free for the first hour then $1/hour after that. Sometimes special event parking raises the price. Parking is free in RAD and West Asheville. Other Things to Note Please observe quiet hours between 10pm and 9am. Please note that my bedroom is also downstairs so if your doors are open, I can hear you.
Both the laundry room and Michelle's personal bedroom room are downstairs but those spaces are separate from this space. ...
