Santorini is one of the most romantic and picturesque places in the whole of Europe, so why not consider splurging a bit and making it a trip of a lifetime? With white, cliff-side houses, blue-domed churches and incredible sunsets, it’s guaranteed to be a holiday you’ll never forget. We’ve found five of the most incredible places to stay in Santorini that will take your breath away
1. Casa Sofia
Casa Sofia features an incredible view of the Santorini volcano. It’s a super cute Airbnb property that’s a traditional cliff-side house with white walls and blue doors and windows. The house can sleep four people, with space for two in the main bedroom and space for two more people in the living room. It has a gorgeous veranda that looks out onto the sea and the volcano, where you can take breakfast in the morning, or relax with a glass of wine in the evening. It’s just a 7-minute walk from the center of Oia, pronounced ‘la’, which is the main town on the island, full of narrow, winding streets, great tavernas and local restaurants.
If you’re looking for a truly unique experience, Fisherman’s House is the place to stay. It is set in an old fisherman’s cave that has since been converted into a stunning rental property. The property hangs from a cliff in the picturesque main village of Oia and has a private outdoor jacuzzi, so you can sit back and watch the sunset. The Fisherman’s House has two bedrooms and can sleep up to five people. It’s just a five-minute walk to some of the best tavernas and restaurants in town, too.
3. Canava View
The Canava View house is another great place to watch the famous Santorini sunset. Tourists crowd the streets of Oia to watch the sunset, but you will have total privacy on your own second-floor private terrace. The star attraction of the house is a jacuzzi that you can relax in as you watch the sky change from day to night. The unique property used to be a winery in the 1900s, and it has since been renovated. Its original layout has been well-preserved, including unique features such as sunken troughs in the floor that were used for distilling the wine after the grapes had been pressed.
The Adam and Eve villa is located in Imerovigili village. Its location offers an incredible panoramic view of the island: you can see the volcano, nearby volcanic islands and even the nearby islands of Hamari and Pyrgos in the distance. Due to its location in Imerovigili, it has a less touristy feel than properties in the more popular area of Oia. The villa has a veranda with a sofa, chairs and two sun beds, making it the perfect place to unwind. It has two bedrooms and can sleep up to five guests.
5. Danai House
The Danai house has a veranda with stunning views of the Santorini volcano and the nearby traditional cliff-side villages. The property is a gorgeous, traditional building, with cave-like curved walls and traditional Greek interior. It has a private courtyard with a large eating area and is the perfect place to eat dinner and enjoy the scenery.
