best airbnbs in nepal

Few travelers can say they’ve made the trek to Nepal. Even fewer can say they’ve enjoyed their stay in one of the country’s best Airbnbs. Whether you’re headed to Kathmandu, or somewhere a little more off the beaten path, we can safely determine based on your travel choices that you’re not one to settle for the average. So why settle for average accommodations? We dug around for the best Airbnbs in Nepal and were blown away at the variety. The hardest part was narrowing down the list. Without further ado, here are the best Airbnbs in this highly spiritual, dramatically mountainous country.

Cafe Du Mont, Nagarkot

Those who come for the view will not be disappointed. This bed and breakfast in the mountains lets you wake up to panoramic views of striking snow-capped peaks that stretch as far as the eye can see. At 7,000 feet, the air is thin but perfectly clean, and that much-needed mental catch up time you’ve been so looking forward to is at your fingertips.

The rooms themselves are simple and homely, and the services check all the fundamental boxes. Previous guests recommend bringing some extra layers to stay warm.

Contemporary Thamel Penthouse, Kathmandu

For those looking for city adventure, this modern Kathmandu penthouse puts you in the heart of one of the capital’s most active neighborhoods. The view from the balcony is excellent as well. The interior is modern and spacious with wood floors, floor to ceiling sliding doors, and plenty of windows that light up every room.

Just a short walk from the apartment’s front door is the markets of Thamel, where guests can buy local crafts and clothing. We highly recommend this option for travelers looking to get a little taste of Kathmandu city life after some time exploring the mountains.

Attic Room in a Newari House, Patan

This brick house is something out of an interior design magazine and the attic might just be the best part. Imagine starting your morning getting out of bed and stepping onto a balcony with a view of Patan (also known as Lalitpur), then exploring the ancient city and its temples. This attic room Airbnb is the solo traveler’s dream.

We’ll let the photos do most the talking for this one. There are also three dogs that hang out on the property. Just when you thought it couldn’t get better.

Anadu House, Pokhara

Located on the edge of a small village, this house gives the traveler lucky enough to book it a taste of rural life in Nepal. Although rural, the experience is still luxurious. You can spend your evening lounging on the deck and looking up at the nearby snow-covered mountains. You can also walk down about a hundred feet to a lake where you can kayak and explore the area by water.

The home has two bedrooms and one bath, so we’re thinking small groups and couples. Just have your camera ready. The scenery is nothing short of gorgeous.

Authentic Local Panchase Homestay, Pokhara

For the more rugged travelers among us more focused on experience than conventional comforts, we decided to include this village home option. You’ll stay in the Damdame Village, live among locals and get a genuine taste for day to day life in a rural Nepalese village.

Whether it’s teaching local kids English or just walking the streets and interacting with the locals, staying here is the best way to immerse yourself in the rural culture and see a world you’ve likely never come close to.
