Every Fourth of July weekend, thousands gather in California Sierra Nevada Mountains town of Quincy to enjoy some of the biggest names in jamband, newgrass and funk. But music isn’t all that’s on tap. Away from the stages, festival goers can watch films, participate in yoga classes, and sample gourmet food and drink options provided by the festival vendors. Headed into its 27th year, High Sierra has it down to a science.

High Sierra Music Festival Dates and Location

The High Sierra Music Festival takes place Thursday, June 29 to Sunday, July 2 in Quincy, California.

High Sierra Festival Tickets

Four-Day Pass – $297 – General admission access for all four days along with camping space. Parking is not included.

Friday to Sunday Pass – $282 – General admission three-day pass including camping. Parking is not included.

Saturday to Sunday Pass – $220 – General admission two-day pass including camping. Parking is not included.

Thursday Single Day Pass – $92 – General admission pass for all Thursday events. Camping and parking are not included.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday Single Day Passes – $102 – General admission passes for all events on chosen day. Camping and parking are not included.

FestivALL VIP Experience – $825 – Includes 1 four-day pass, early entry, reserved shady camping area access, access to VIP lounge and reserved elevated seating.

Getting to and From the High Sierra Music Festival

Quincy, California is located about 80 miles northwest of Reno, Nevada. That means it’s fairly out the way and transportation is a key planning point.

Air – Reno International Airport is just over an hour and a half drive from the festival grounds. However, most festival goers making long distance treks to the festival will fly into the Bay Area airports of San Jose, San Francisco or Oakland.

Car – Quincy is just over four hours from San Francisco and just under three hours from Sacramento. The festival grounds address is 204 Fairground Road Quincy, CA if you’re navigating with GPS.

ShuttlePlumas Transit runs a shuttle from Reno that makes multiple stops in the town of Quincy.

Where to Stay for the High Sierra Music Festival

Camping Festival goers are encouraged to camp both on the festival grounds and in camping areas immediately outside of the grounds. For information on the variety of camping options and how to reserve a space, check out the camping page on the festival’s official website.

Airbnb – This home is tucked away in the woods outside of Quincy and along with its solid five-star rating after more than 20 reviews, it offers incredible views of the Sierra Nevada forest. Accommodations in the area are few and far between, so couples (the house has room for two) looking to escape the camping lifestyle need to book fast. The home goes for $246 per night.

Lodge – The Gold Pan Lodge is located in Quincy and offers all the basics that the non-camping types will miss if they go for the tent. Rooms start at $75 per night.
