Have you ever looked at a map of New York City’s five boroughs and decided you want to run through each one? If you answered yes, be sure to check out the TCS New York City Marathon, taking place on Sunday, November 5th on Staten Island.

The marathon isn’t the only show in town that week. We’ve compiled a list of the top New York City Marathon events.

The race is broken into five divisions with a total of 9 different start times spanning three hours, from 8:30 am to 11:00 am. Participants will run through each borough before ending in Manhattan’s Central Park. Pre-marathon events will kick off two days earlier on November 3rd with the Parade of Nations and a fireworks show in Central Park.

Last year, the marathon boasted a record 51,390 finishers, making it the largest marathon in the world. The average finishing time was 4 hours and 39 minutes, with top place finishers cutting that time in half. Last year’s first place runners, Eritrea’s Ghirmay Ghebreslassie (men) and Kenya’s Mary Keitany (women), clocked in at 2 hours and 7 minutes and 2 hours and 24 minutes respectively.

Registration for the 2017 marathon is closed, but if you’re inspired to join this group of incredible athletes next year, register for the 2018 marathon.

If you’re looking for a more manageable route, The Poland Spring Marathon Kickoff starts the week. Join fellow runners on October 29th on a 5-mile run through Central Park. Spots fill up quickly for this race, so be sure to register soon.

Do 5 miles still sound too intense? Not to worry! The Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K takes place on Saturday, November 4th. This race is 3.1 miles through Manhattan, ending in Central Park.

Both of these races finish at the official New York City Marathon finish line, so you’ll still have something to brag about.

Rather watch other people run? The USATF Championship takes place just before the Abbott Dash on November 4th. Watch as the best runners in the U.S. compete to become the next national champion.
