The Space

Most of my Karenville sites (except My Cabin and the Hotel which have heat) are now closed for the winter until sometime in April. However if the weather is unusually nice and/or you are feeling especially hardy contact me and I can open a site (tiny home) for you. Please feel free to browse through the Karenville sites below and to make future plans and dreams. Thankyou Karen Links to Karenville's different sites Village of Karenville sites are all Electric free (total off grid) with rain/well water only and unconventional hot showers. All bedding included unless otherwise noted. There is also a one time $5-15 check in fee to encourage multiple day bookings. "Karen's Cabin" (with heat when needed) $90 https://airbnb.com/rooms/3404505 "The Hotel" (with heat when needed) $70 https://airbnb.com/rooms/2272547 "Home on Wheels" (Art studio)$55 https://airbnb.com/rooms/3767827 "The Cool'r Cottage" $55 https://airbnb.com/rooms/4443492 "The Loft" $50 w/2day minimum https://airbnb.com/rooms/4709127 "Kokopelli's Playhouse" $45 (bring your own bedding) http://abnb.me/EVmg/5dJeWYMPsG "A Tiny Room" (the corn crib) $35 for one person only https://airbnb.com/rooms/2225475 "Hobbit house hut" (bring your own bedding) $38 https://airbnb.com/rooms/5955184 "Hut in The Woods" (bring your own bedding) $35 https://airbnb.com/rooms/10265851 "Tenting" (bring your own gear) $25 https://airbnb.com/rooms/4404512 "Camping" (bring your own gear) $25 https://airbnb.com/rooms/6129174 And for just a Quick daytime Visit in Karenville $25 https://airbnb.com/rooms/12738646 I built every one of the silly buildings in Karenville for my own pleasure, as well as this cute little building I call "the loft". Karenville is very difficult to describe and so is "the Loft". Please read this site and the reviews to get an idea of what Karenville has to offer. There are many tiny buildings in Karenville for you to use, explore and enjoy like the "Cafe/Store" (cook your own meals) the "Glass House", "Dance Hall", and more; there are plenty of fields and woods too. Come experience some basics of life and start smiling. To see other possibilities (tiny "homes") in Karenville scroll to bottom. I recently built (I can't stop building! It's my hobby) this "loft home". Although there is no heat in this charming "abode" it is well insulated and will keep you warm when it is cool, and cool when it is warm. It's something like camping only much more refined. Unlike my other sites, this site has a two night minimum. Please consider booking additional nights. To further encourage multiple nights I have added a one time check in fee of $10 (Airbnb calls it a cleaning fee). What I hear most from my guests is " I wish we could stay longer in this amazing place"

Guest Access

Not only is Karenville off the grid, there is no electric or wifi anywhere in Karenville. (I have been living electric free for over 20 years) However there is good cell service. The "Loft" (the place you will be sleeping if you book this site) is my only building with two rooms. The sleeping room is 4ftx8ft and can sleep one person comfortably or two people if you like to snuggle. It has an extra long twin size mattress and interesting windows that allow lots of cross ventilation and night breezes to flow through. The "Loft's" other room is a glassed in room which is a very nice sitting area. This cute abode is centrally located, yet set to the side of the village. It overlooks a wide open field of wild grasses and flowers. You are sure to be amazed! All our guests say "I just wish we could have stayed longer." So for your enjoyment and ours, I strongly suggest booking more than one night. At Karenville we get our water the old fashioned way, from the rain barrels or the well. The village has a beautiful composting toilet, and two primitive and unconventional hot showers. One is completely enclosed and the other is open to the sky. When making your own shower you heat water in the "cafe" to the temp you like and then pour it into the shower bucket in the shower house to enjoy a "somewhat normal" five minute shower.

Interaction with Guests

Although the "Loft" is private, we will be around somewhere in the village if you should need anything. You are always welcome to join us, and sometimes other guests, at a campfire or sitting and chatting or whatever we might be doing.

The Neighborhood

Karenville has no nearby neighbors. It is on our family farm and is only 100 feet from 9,000 acres of State Forest. It is very country yet a quick and easy drive into Ithaca. Be sure to check out Karenville's other sites. At Karenville kids are people too! I have tried to make my prices as reasonable and simple as possible. I have priced my "homes" and camping to include the second person. I then charge $15 for each person after the second with a maximum of four people. Yes kids are people and often take up more space than adults. Please include them as another person. Village of Karenville sites are all Electric free (total off grid) with rain/well water only. Getting Around

When you tire of all the peace and quiet out at Karenville, Ithaca is only 7-10 miles or 15-20 minute drive. Ithaca has everything a big city might have, things Karenville does not. Things like waterfalls, universities, wineries, streetlights, restaurants, sidewalks, malls, electric and more.

Other Things to Note

- if you have pets or smoke be sure to check my house rules -Be sure to check out Karenville's other sites for other possibilities and more pictures. -To see other interesting sleeping possibilities click on my profile (small round pix of me) and scroll down (you may have to click a few times). Karenville pays county, state and federal tax. All the good pictures taken by Robert, the rest...well...haha...I prefer to not say! Also be aware the terrain at Karenville is uneven and depending on the weather can be slippery. Sturdy footwear is almost a must.

Millions of people are using Airbnb to sleep in strangers' homes, beds, and even couches. They have an amazing selection and you can't find their stuff anywhere else. There is a catch: you often need to contact several hosts to actually get a place to stay, so make sure you give yourself some lead time.
