The Space

The HIDDEN HAVEN makes for a wonderful retreat! The KITCHEN underwent a complete remodel in the summer of 2016. Owned by someone who loves to cook, you will find it is fully stocked with everything you need to make and serve a delicious meal. The kitchen is open to the living and dining areas so you will never feel like you're stuck cooking while everyone else is having fun. The breakfast bar seats two. The DINING area is set for four, but (with advance notice) can accommodate your dinner guests with an extension that allows seating for eight. Placemats and tablecloths are available for your use and there are plenty of dishes, silverware, wine glasses, and candles to set a gorgeous table. The LIVING ROOM has plenty of seating, warm lighting, and fuzzy throws. It's a great place to gather. The wood stove keeps it cozy even on the coldest of days. Firewood is available for your use. Please note: there is no TV, but there are games, books, etc. to keep you entertained (and Wi-Fi too just in case!) The BOOK NOOK is a quiet and cozy spot for the avid reader in your family. Tucked under the stairs, it's the latest addition to our home and was inspired by the desire to get our avid reader to hang out in the same room as the rest of us once in a while. The MASTER BEDROOM is in the loft and while open to the living room, it provides an adequate amount of privacy due to the structural design. It has a Queen-sized bed with good linens that will provide a super night of rest. Drawer storage and space to hang your clothes is abundant. The loft is served by it's own small, but mighty bathroom. The DOWNSTAIRS BEDROOM contains Twin L-shaped bunk-inspired beds with good linens and sleeps two very comfortably. Beach towels, extra duvets, games, and room for your things can be found in the large closet. Down the same hallway, you will find the larger bathroom. It contains a stackable washer and dryer. The DECK is a great place to hang out when the sun is shining. It's the perfect spot to relax while you enjoy your morning tea. The patio table can seat up to eight when the weather is right for a meal outdoors. Deer frequent the yard and it feels as though you are far from the rest of the world because the yard is enclosed by trees. Blackberries can be found all along the far side of the driveway. They are delicious to be sure, but be aware as they share the area with stinging nettle. The LOCATION is a 10-15 minute drive from the Clinton Ferry, 15-20 minutes to Downtown Langley (the Whidbey Transit bus stops in front of the house), just 1.5 miles to Maxwelton Beach, and generally no more than 20 minutes to nearly everything South Whidbey has to offer.

Guest Access

This is a stand alone cabin style home on a 7,500 square foot lot (in a neighborhood of homes occupied mostly by full-time residents) and you will have it all to yourself during your stay. It's enclosed by a wall of trees and feels very private even though there are adjacent lots of similar size, most with homes.

Interaction with Guests

You can call, text, or email me at ANY hour if you need anything or have a question. I try to make myself available to tenants whenever they may need me, but usually just check in via text a couple of times during their stay.

Millions of people are using Airbnb to sleep in strangers' homes, beds, and even couches. They have an amazing selection and you can't find their stuff anywhere else. There is a catch: you often need to contact several hosts to actually get a place to stay, so make sure you give yourself some lead time.

Place's rules

Some rules and important information that is specific to this home: General-The house is an A-frame with some low beams in various locations so please pay attention that you don’t bump your head. Kitchen-The countertop is NOT a cutting board. Please do not do any “cutting” on it. Please note that there is no garbage disposal. Bathrooms-The house is on a septic system and it needs to be treated gently. Ladies, please do not flush any feminine products EVER. Bedrooms-Please note that the water used in the upstairs bathroom flows thru the downstairs bedroom and may disrupt light sleepers if used in the night. Also, there is a bed guard rail available for your use in the downstairs bedroom closet. Extras-If you plan to have additional dinner guests, we need to know in advance. The dining table has a leaf and extra chairs, but they are not stored in the house so we need to set them up before your arrival. Pet Policy-We allow well-behaved dogs only. No cats are allowed on the premises ever as our daughter is highly allergic. There is a $15 fee per pet/per stay (not per night.) Please bring along a bed for your dog! In consideration of allergic folks, we ask that you keep your dog off the furniture and house linens. If this doesn't work for you and your dog, please bring your own linens and an extra large sheet to cover our sofa. We also ask that you pick up after your pet when on our property and in our neighborhood. And finally, if you need to leave your pet alone, we ask that you plan to crate him/her so there is no mischief in your absence.
