Apartment above Historic Bank
The building has been associated with the LaCharite family since it was built in 1900. Present day descendants of the early French Canadian settlers to this community have decorated the apartment to reflect their family heritage.
In 1984 the LaCharite Building was the first in Christian County to be named to the National Register of Historic Places.
Guests have access to the entire apartment. Because Assumption is a small community, dining options are limited. A list of suggested eating establishments within 10 to 20 miles and other points of interest are provided.
Interaction with Guests
My husband and I live on a farm 5 miles east of town. Because the apartment has a key-less entry system and instructions for appliances along with places of interest, we may (or may not) meet.
Assumption is a quiet, safe farming community with limited retail activity, however there is a neat, little independent bookstore next to the apartment entry. Free parking readily available. Assumption is 45 miles east of Springfield and 25 miles south of Decatur.
Other Things to Note
Being on second floor, the apartment is not handicap accessible. It has a shower, no tub.
