The Space

Hello and welcome to Boo's Adventurer's Paradise. Please read everything in the descriptions below, so there are no misunderstandings. We are located 18 kilometers outside Chiang mai city, in a small village next to Ob Khan National Park and have 3 beautiful bamboo huts for rent. The huts can accommodate 2 people on a twin size bed and comes with a mosquito net, lamp, fan, electrical outlet, outside sitting area and a locking dresser.

Guest Access

Wifi is available on the property. We also have a new common room where guests can relax, read, eat, plan trips, work on their laptops or play table football (Fooseball). If you wish to cook your own meals, we have a new outdoor kitchenette you may use. There is a refrigerator and cabinet to keep your food and drinks in. There is a shared toilet and shower facilities on site.

Interaction with Guests

As members of the Hash House Harriers, (drinkers with a running problem) we encourage our guests to take advantage of the numerous running clubs we belong to. You can walk, run or just sit around and make friends with the other non runners while the crazy ones are out running through the forests. The men's only group runs are on Mondays at 3:30 and the men's and women's runs are on Thursdays at 3:30. Weather permitting and availability of dry wood, guests can also build a fire at night to sit around. You can also accompany us on our numerous trips around the area running errands and food shopping.

The Neighborhood

I am located in a small village with all the sites, smells and sounds you would expect from a Thai village, Including monkeys, roosters, dogs, lizards, chickens, birds, insects and chanting monks. Sorry to disappoint a few of you, but there are no night clubs, karaoke shops, go-go bars or lady boy shows in the village. It takes about 30 minutes to drive from the city of Chiang Mai to my place (Excluding rush hour). We are close to the Chiang Mai Grand Canyon, National Park and Baan Tawai Handicraft Village.

Getting Around

To get to our place, you can either use a taxi app, rent a motorbike in the city or have us come and pick you up. Since we don't have street names in the village, we just ask people to look up "Joe39shop" in Namboluang to let the driver know where you are going. We are right around the corner from the shop. We can also personally pick you up from the airport, train and bus station for 200 Baht. Drop off back into the city is also 200 baht or we can drop you off at the main bus route into town. 100 baht for drop off and 25 Baht bus fare into town. For other options, let us know a day before your arrival. Renting a motorbike is the only way to get around on your own and explore the area and sights. They are 100 and 125 cc engines, so not very big. No gears. All automatic. You must have some experience riding motorbikes to rent one. (Be aware, that if you intend to drive into the city, you must have a Thai drivers license. There are a number of check points around the city and they will fine you). It's best to take the bus in and walk around. We rent motorbikes at 100 Baht per calender day, If you cannot drive a motorbike, I can drop you off and pick you up at sights around the area for low cost, round trip fares. If you are only in Chiang Mai a few days, then I suggest staying in the city as taxis can get expensive going back and forth to our place. Otherwise, you can just sit around and relax in one of our hammocks or go for a hike in the national park. We also have bicycles for rent for 50 Baht a day. You may use the bikes for free when available to get to the Garden Restaurant and village minimart. We also offer cheap off the beaten track tours to national parks, caves, waterfalls and other attractions that city tour agents don't go to or know about. We also make frequent trips to the markets for food shopping, so you are welcome to join us.

Other Things to Note

We serve breakfast and dinner on the property. Breakfast is 70 Baht or less and dinner is usually between 60-90 Baht. For lunch, there is a wonderful restaurant set in a beautiful garden with sheep, horses and other small animals in our village a kilometer away that serves great food for a low price and a small shop that serves lunch and dinner a half kilometer away. A couple new restaurants are also open for dinner 2-3 kilometers away. A western style supermarket and fresh local market are located 20 minutes away by motorbike. There is also a 7/11, ATM, pharmacy, restaurant, coffee shop and petrol station 4k down the road and a German bakery/restaurant 6 kilometers down the road. And as always at our place, drinking water, tea and coffee are always free. When you enter the National Park from my location, there are hundreds of trails to hike or run on. You may also volunteer at the local dog shelter, (Care for Dogs) which is 20 minutes away, if you are staying longer than a week, they have a 2 or 3 day orientation program before you can volunteer. You may look them up online.

Millions of people are using Airbnb to sleep in strangers' homes, beds, and even couches. They have an amazing selection and you can't find their stuff anywhere else. There is a catch: you often need to contact several hosts to actually get a place to stay, so make sure you give yourself some lead time.
