Breathtaking Views, Steps to Water!
Our home is nestled just above Wallowa Lake, a natural glacier fed lake, located in beautiful rural Northeastern Oregon. Hallelujah Cottage (our name for this peaceful spot because we praise God we own it!) has the most prime view in this pristine mountain paradise.The executive home, built in the late 1940's, has astounding views from every window with large and sunny spaces. All tile and layout is original and in perfect shape! Beautiful oak floors throughout, with all rooms being spacious and convenient. HOME DETAILS The living room has newly coffered ceilings with floor to ceiling windows facing south towards the Lake. There is a working fireplace to cozy up to with two comfy couches. Extended groups and large families will love our Ballard outdoor/indoor tables and chairs that fold down to easily accommodate your group! The south facing dining room is small but intimate and seats 6-8 people. It's a lovely spot as a morning breakfast nook! The south-facing kitchen with huge corner windows is idyllic. It's fully equipped with an eat-in nook, a new cooktop stove, dishwasher, deep stainless steel sink and new delta gourmet faucet. Off the kitchen there is a huge pantry and laundry room with a guest bathroom including a shower. The east end of our retro home has a long hallway where the spacious bedrooms and den are located. At the end of the hall is the master suite, with walk in closet--definitely an artsy, funky retreat facing south with huge corner windows. The king bed has a Serta Memory Foam mattress along with top of the line luxury spa bedding by the Comphy Company. There's a 42" flat screen TV with entertainment center and a small writing desk as well as a Stressless recliner chair. A mix of antiques and eclectic makes this a special space. The master bath is a favorite with it's original turquoise, pink and black tile and the turquoise original Kohler square shaped tub. A matching sink is a small vintage original with matching mirror above. Plush towels and amenities complete the light and bright suite! The guest bedroom has nice sized windows showcasing a gorgeous backyard as well as a large walk in closet. The queen bed has a luxurious pillow-top mattress, plenty of down pillows and a beautiful white Pine Cone Hill coverlet and dust ruffle. Beautiful antiques and original artwork complete the room. Right next to the guest suite is a spacious bathroom with original vintage tiles in warm shades. There's a lovely built in make up area and sink as well as a new Kohler shower head and faucets in the shower/tub combo. Fluffy spa towels and amenities are included. The original blonde mahogany study is a smaller intimate space with a working fireplace, desk with wifi (throughout house) and built in bookshelves. It's an unbelievable south facing space with two corner windows looking on the lake that makes a working vacation seem easy! Hallelujah has a covered porch and a brick patio picnic area in the back with a Traeger BarBQ as well as a small gas grill and utensils. PROXIMITY TO LAKE Walk down our driveway and cross the road to a lovely little sandy beach area by the lake. Lake toys may be available upon request! Just ask us! THINGS TO DO & SEE Particularly in the summer there is so much to do! Wallowa County is a mecca for the person who loves an off the beaten path experience in a breathtaking setting tailor made for the outdoor enthusiast. With a square mileage larger than Rhode Island and yet only 8,000 people you will never feel crowded! There are many great restaurants and microbreweries, bronze galleries and foundries as well as a number of cute shops in the town of Joseph. Having the deepest canyon in North America and some of the highest mountain peaks in Oregon it is a geographical wonder and known as "The Little Switzerland of America". This means there are innumerable trails and hiking opportunities! In the summer hike, backpack or ride into the high country or the canyons, fish out of clear mountain streams, play on Wallowa Lake or just kick back and enjoy the abundant sunny summer days. Almost every weekend in the summer/fall boasts a special event. In the winter experience the back country in some of the best white powder in the state cross country skiing. Winter is a slowed down beautiful time of the year. Wallowa County is one of the most unique counties in Oregon with unsurpassed views, scenery and way of life. The beauty of our surroundings is unparalleled! We have privacy, peace and views that are simply stunning. The great thing is, we are close to the quaint little town of Joseph. The ambitious walker can get there on foot! (Less than a mile). You are on the edge of Wallowa State Park and the burial site of Old Chief Joseph, which is a federal site. You can rent small boats, stand up paddle boards and take the kids to the head of the Lake for go carts, pizza, horseback riding and all the rest!Getting Around
Public transportation is nil due to the beautiful, rural community we live in!Other Things to Note
The town of Joseph is full of quaint shops, great food and micro breweries as well as an award winning chocolate company. You can go to Arrowhead Chocolates and sip Stumptown espresso and watch the chocolate being made! The whole area is laced with hiking trails and a plethora of outdoor activities.
