Try fishing on Lower Buckhorn Lake. A number of species can be found from Walleye (Pickerel), Muskie, Bass (Small Mouth & Large Mouth), Black Crappie, Blue Gill, Perch.

An Area Overview
Buckhorn sits at the geographic centre of the 386 kilometer Trent Severn Waterway which winds its way from Georgian Bay to Trenton on Lake Ontario. Lock 31 is one of the most popular on the system with boaters as it is in the middle of the town. All amenities are within a short walk. By road, Buckhorn is only a 90 minute drive from Toronto, 20 mins or 30 kms north of Peterborough and 20 kms east of Bobcaygeon.
Three Castles is a small seasonal cottage resort with 17 housekeeping units. Of those, 3 are one bedroom suites open all year. We boast 1600 feet of shoreline on Lower Buckhorn Lake, and offer boat rentals or free docking for your own watercraft. A popular fishing location for decades, we lie at the dam next to Lock 31 which divides Upper Buckhorn Lake, ChemongLake and Pigeon Lake from Lower Buckhorn Lake.
Pickerel (Walleye), Small Mouth & Large Mouth Bass and Muskie (Muskellunge) are the most popular of the sport fish found in our lake. The opening of the fishing seasons vary depending on the species from early May to the fourth Saturday in June. Pan fishing (Perch, Blue Gill, Black Crappie) is open all year in the Kawartha Lakes region. We sell fishing licences for Ontario residents and others at the office. There are three bait shops within walking distance.
Nearby attractions include the famous Petroglyph Provincial Park, Warsaw Caves and the new Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park. Sandy Lakeâ??s â??Heartâ?, the well known heart-shaped rocks visible from Lakehurst Road. The Kawartha Winery is located 4 kilometers out of town and is open everyday during the busy summer season. The largest private art gallery in Canada, Gallery on the Lake, is accessible by car or boat as are Bayside Boutique and the world famous Whetung Native Art Gallery at Curve Lake First Nations. Peterborough is home to the Canadian Canoe Museum and the largest Lift Lock in the world.
