Description

The Space

Private double bedroom in a bright, sunny flat in SE1 Southwark/Waterloo. YOUR BEDROOM: You will have a double bedroom to yourselves. The bedroom has a king bed and new furniture. THE FLAT: The flat is on the second floor and has another bedroom that my partner and I use. There is one bathroom shared among us. It is equipped with two independent water heating systems, so there is always hot water for the shower, hurray! The kitchen has a separate door and so does the living room. The living room is very spacious with double doors to a terrace! You can have your breakfast outside as there is a table and 3 chairs on the terrace. The living room is very cozy. There is a sofa, two comfy leather chairs, a dining table that can seat 6 people, and plenty of windows and natural lighting. Everything is modern and we keep the flat very clean. We will also have several recommendations for breakfasts, lunches, & dinners, and the best/fastest way to get there. However, we understand that it's nice to stay in for a meal whilst on holiday. Please help yourself to anything in our kitchen. We love cooking and the kitchen has all the crockery you need to cook a nice meal.

Interaction with Guests

ABOUT US: This is now our 6th year living in London and we've grown to love this city as our home. We are a couple, an American and an Italian. We've lived in three different London neighborhoods and this is, by far, our favourite. We keep the flat very cozy and full of food. Life is busy in London - We both work full-time jobs - we will most likely see you in the evenings. We love to hang out with guests when we are around; but if you'd like some privacy, or to get to bed early, no problem at all! Any questions? Send a us a message!

The Neighborhood

On a very quiet and safe street in Zone 1. It is a residential neighbourhood with very little vehicle activity. Very safe: there is a grade school 30 meters away, but do not worry, it is still very quiet even in the mornings and afternoons when the kids are finished with school. We are a few minutes from iconic locations such as the Borough Market, London Eye, Tate Modern, Shakespeare's Globe, Westminster Bridge (Big Ben). Local streets such as THE CUT, which runs from Waterloo to Southwark station, are filled with restaurants, cafes, and bars. The neighbourhood has been completely renovated at the beginning of 2016. It has clean, brand new sidewalks, newly paved roads and a nice mix of modern and older red-brick houses: a typical London vibe. We are in between to famous London bridges (Blackfriars bridge and Southwark Bridge), so there is a 'buzz' to this neighbourhood. The best thing about Bankside SE1 is that it's so close to everything but without the tourists and crowded streets that you'll find on the other side of the river Thames.

Getting Around

Our flat is a 7 minute walk from Southwark station (Underground Tube; Jubilee line); 9 minute walk from Waterloo station (Bakerloo, Jubilee, Northern Tube lines & National Rail trains), and 8 minutes from Borough station (Northern line). London Bridge station is 15 minute away. We also have dozens of bus routes within 5 minutes away that will take you practically anywhere in London. Getting home at anytime of the day or night is very easy and stress-free. If you like walking, you can walk to all major London attractions in 25 minutes. -Covent Garden: 23 minutes (this route offers the most beautiful view on Waterloo Bridge) -Westminster and Big Ben: 22 minutes -St Paul's Cathedral: 22 minutes -Tower of London: 29 minutes -London Bridge & Borough Market: 14 minutes (It's very challenging to explore Borough market and not buy anything to eat or cook! No worries, we have everything you need to cook a nice meal at home). Cycle Hire bicycles are located across the street! These are communal bikes throughout central London and will get you to any central London destination in 15 minutes or less. This is our main method of transportation and we absolutely love it. Just remember to ride on the left side of the road! FROM AIRPORTS -Heathrow (60 minutes): Piccadilly line to Green Park, switch to Jubilee line to Southwark Station. 7 Minutes walk from the station to our flat. -Gatwick (45 minutes): Direct train to Blackfriars or London Bridge station. Both are 15 minute walk to our flat. - Stansted (75 minutes): train or bus to Liverpool Street station. Take bus 344, the Underground to Southwark station, or a short Taxi ride to our flat.

Other Things to Note

We are a Sans-shoe house! Please take your shoes off when you walk in. No lift or elevator and we are two floors up! Get your legs ready for some stairs (and your luggage too!) :-)

Millions of people are using Airbnb to sleep in strangers' homes, beds, and even couches. They have an amazing selection and you can't find their stuff anywhere else. There is a catch: you often need to contact several hosts to actually get a place to stay, so make sure you give yourself some lead time.

Place's rules

Be respectful of our neighbors, we really like them and want them to continue to like us too! We both work as average Londoners do. If you check-in at 3p onwards there's a higher chance we will check you in in-person as we may be able to come home early from work. If you have an earlier arrival, AND if there's no checkout on your arrival day, theres a chance you will be able to check-in before 3pm without meeting us first. But hey--at least you can get your bags in the door! :) No smoking inside (but we have a terrace you can use). No pets/animals.
