Famous area for 2 of the biggest parks / gardens of Paris : Parc des Buttes Chaumont and Parc de la Villette (Geode, Grande Halle, Philharmonie, Zenith, Cite des Sciences et de l'Industrie, Cite de la musique, etc.)
Ourcq Canal with lots of barges, boats, bars, restaurants, cinemas...
Down the building : small neighborhood or village shops (wines, butcher and cheese market, groceries...), supermarkets, chemistries, restaurants (pizzas, chinese, japonese, casher, libanese, french, african...)
SMALL GUIDE :
Canal de l'Ourcq, impossible to miss with all the boats, restaurants and bars.
You have 2 sides, Quai de Loire is on our side and when you cross its is Quai de Seine. One way to go to the Canal is :
Our 2 favorite restaurants there, on Quai de Loire :
- Pavillon des Canaux, 39 Quai de la Loire
You have to visit this amazing antic house : you can have a drink or eat everywhere in each room, including the bath, so fun! Cheap cocktails and fresh food a little expensive. It's both trendy and family friendly. Original date guarantee!
- Chez Mezig, 44Bis Quai de la Loire
Simple but good, tasty, fresh and cheap French Bistro. Every public.
- Cafezoide, 92 bis Quai de la Loire
It is a café for parents and children. I would like to go there for a long time but we didn't yet. You have to check the schedule before going :
Parc de la Villette, impossible to miss!
Another very nice way to go to the Canal de l'Ourcq is to go to Parc de la Villette first, which has got so many children activities and cultural ones for adults : Cité de la Musique, museums...
Parc des Buttes Chaumont, impossible to miss! So easy, go on your left when you're down the building and you just have to follow the Rue Manin straight down! It's also a romantic place and nice for children. There are a carousel, real poneys, play grounds, a lack and lots of kids activities. Please help yourself and take the sand toys in the cupboard of the office(s room and the big grey tissues to seat on the grass, have a picnic or have a nap!
Rue Eugène Jumin is a small street with plenty of restaurants, groceries, supermarket, bakery, chemistry... Our 2 favorites restaurants are :
- Chez Arnaud, 16 rue Eugène Jumin
Best pizzeria and burgers so good! Very small and simple place. Good atmosphere. More for family or buddies then romanticism! You can call to order and take away.
- Au Saveur du Liban, 11 Rue Eugène Jumin
Lebanese food, so tasty and cheap. Not romantic or fancy. You can take away.
Avenue Jean Jaurès is a big avenue with lots of restaurants (the one where you find our subway station Porte de Pantin. It's also the one you cross to go to the Parc de la Villette. Our 2 favorites restaurants there :
- Tonton Jaurès, 174 Avenue Jean Jaurès
Simple but good and cheap French Bistro. They have huge an cheap happy hour for best cocktails! And they are family friendly with a baby seat.
- L'Entrepôt Villette, 216 Avenue Jean Jaurès.
Food world in a big restaurant's hotel, good but a little expensive. It's nice to be in a little garden with wood table and seats.Getting Around
3minutes walk : subway station Porte de Pantin (ligne 5) which is only 20mn from République, Bastille & Montmartre (Anvers station, on line 2).
