The Space

One-level ranch home in quiet, residential area close to Lake Monona, Olbrich Gardens and Park, Atwood, Willy St. and Monona. I am just a block or so away from the bike path which can take you all over Madison and surrounding areas. This is a great spot for people who want to be active while here, see a variety of places in and around Madison and want a beautifully decorated spot as home base when it's time to relax. My home has enough sleeping options for six people. There are two bedrooms, a queen sized air mattress and a sofa that is comfortable for sleeping. It is a cozy space for six people but will be great for a long weekend when you're more than likely out and about exploring. You are welcome to use the kitchen and appliances during your stay and I am happy to recommend grocery stores and markets for shopping. I also have a nice sized deck in my backyard (with a full sized picnic table), a gas grill, and a hammock for relaxing. The main living area has an Apple TV and a Bluetooth speaker. I get your basic network channels and do not have cable. My wifi password will be provided at check in. My bathroom is small but has a full-size shower and comes equipped with the basic necessities. My home is not within walking distance of the Capitol but it is a very easy 15 minute drive/cab ride or bike ride.

Guest Access

Full kitchen, bathroom, main guest room with full size bed. If you have more than two guests I have a second bedroom (my room) available with a queen bed. Please let me know if you will need the second bedroom so I can prepare. My sofa is also an option (it's comfortable for sleeping!) as well as a queen-sized air mattress that can be set up in the living room. Six guests can comfortably stay here for a long weekend as long as sharing one small bathroom is not a problem! I have space for one car in my garage and two cars in my driveway. You may also park on the street and should have no problem finding a spot. The only exception is when the church 1/2 a block away has services. During this time you may need to park a block away but I doubt it

Interaction with Guests

Depending on my schedule I may be here to meet you upon arrival. Otherwise I will leave details on how to access my home. I am more than happy to offer any recommendations to you while you are here. I will be easily accessible most of the time by email and/or text.

The Neighborhood

Lakes, parks, gardens, restaurants, bars, coffeeshops and bike paths. That about sums up the neighborhood! I'm on the Near-East Side and close to so many things. My home is a short walk to Lake Monona, Olbrich Gardens, the Eastside Club and the new Olbrich Biergarten at Olbrich Park. Though I am not within a few blocks of most bars and restaurants, I am an easy bike ride, car ride or Lyft/Uber/cab ride from so many. I love that my house is so close to all of this yet still a bit away in a quiet residential area. I think you'll appreciate this as well. Trust me, I have no problem constantly going out for great food and fantastic drinks. I'm happy to recommend places to go! I'm also within five minutes of grocery stores, ethnic markets, Walgreens, dry cleaners, post office and whatever else you might need. If you need to travel outside of Madison I'm a few minutes from all major highways, the freeway and the Beltline. It's about a 15-20 drive to the airport.

Getting Around

If you're biking my house is a few blocks from the bike path. I'm an easy cab ride from everywhere else you'll want to go. The bus line is a few blocks from my house and you can find the schedule online. I have a driveway for you to park in and, if necessary, I can give you access to my garage if I will not need it.

Other Things to Note

This is my home so please know that my belongings will be in the house while you stay. This is not a second property that I rent out strictly for AirBnB. I'll do my best to clear out space in my fridge for your stay. You'll need room for all the local beer and cheese you'll buy! I ask that you treat my home as you would your own and be respectful of both my space as well as my neighbors. If you're planning to bar hop and get wild this is probably not the place for you! I want to remain on good terms with my neighbors so please, no loud parties. I do own a dog so if you have severe pet allergies you may not want to stay here. She is a Boston Terrier so does not shed much but I do want you to be aware. Please also be aware that the neighborhood follows alternate side parking rules from November 15 until April 15...even when there is no snow. Speaking of snow, if you happen to stay here when there is a significant amount of snowfall I will probably have to come and shovel my sidewalk and driveway. I will communicate with you prior to this. There are train tracks a few blocks away and if the train goes through and you have the windows open you may hear it.
