Moore's Mountain Inn is both lovely and comfortable. It's the perfect place to just sit and relax, or retreat after a day of business or pleasure. The original brownstone structure was constructed in the late 1700's, and we added an addition that houses our guest rooms, and dining area. Karen is also an avid gardener, and the grounds reflect that.
One last note... our inn is unsuitable for PETS or CHILDREN 12 and under. We have deviated from this policy on occasion, and it has never worked out. So, PLEASE do not ask for an exception, and thank you for your understanding! Guest Access The house was renovated to be a Bed and Breakfast, and the guest rooms and common areas are clearly separate from the host quarters. The kitchen is NOT available to guests, but there are several good restaurants close by that we can recommend.
There is a kitchenette/ bar area with a sink, microwave, mini-fridge, and ice maker that guests can enjoy. There is also a common room with a gas fireplace, library, and projection TV.
Guests also have access to the dining room, the screened-in porch, and the hot tub outside "under the stars". Interaction with Guests This is our home, and we will be accessible throughout your stay. If we are gone for some reason, we will arrange an alternative contact. The Neighborhood We are located in the rolling foothills of the Appalachian Mountains along the Yellow Breeches Creek, an officially designated Pennsylvania scenic river. The area is rural and offers the beauty and charm of a small farming community. There are also several good restaurants within a short drive.
Conveniently located just 10 miles south of Harrisburg, it is about a 25 minute drive to Hershey, Gettysburg, York or Carlisle. Our close proximity to the intersections of routes 15, I-83 and I-76 make the historic and recreational sites of central Pennsylvania, as well as area businesses and attractions easily accessible; we are two hours west of Philadelphia, 4 hours east of Pittsburgh, an hour north of Baltimore, and two hours north of DC.
You can stay close to the inn and enjoy cycling, jogging, or walking our 2 plus mile nature trail that starts from our doorstep and includes the George and Rita Garstad Nature Trail in Lower Allen Community Park. Or, you can try your hand at trout fishing, tubing, or kayaking on the Yellow Breeches Creek. Picnic in the many area parks or just sit back, relax, and take it easy.
