The Space

Meadowbrook Acres is the neighborhood. The Inn was built in 1923 as a guest cabin for the main house which was also a cabin but larger. Restored to it's original exterior and rebuilt interior to modern comfort and efficiency. The Inn is decorated with special family pieces mixed with modern comfort. Open windows with garden views and abundant light, this little place will do nothing but uplift your spirits and calm your heart.

Guest Access

The garden provides pathways, many individual and unique spaces for relaxing day or night with amazing lighting, water features and whimsical art. Relax on the private deck on the back of the Inn. To venture out, I-44 is just around the corner to connect you with the City at large. Less than five minutes walk or a quick ride on the provided vintage bike (use at your own risk) is the up-scale Classen Curve shopping district, Whole Foods Market and the Penn Square Mall.

Interaction with Guests

The Inn is a completely private and separate bungalow from the main house where I and my partner Jim live with the exception of two of the most amazing doggies that will amuse you with each pass. The garden is shared of course. Join me and my friends on Wednesday evenings for entertainment and fellowship in the garden if you wish. Walls of bamboo and architectural elements provide complete privacy.

The Neighborhood

Meadowbrook Acres was platted in the early 1920's as 'lake homes' for the then Belle Isle lake and amusement park where Penn Square Mall and the big box stores now exist. Many of the original cabins have been lovingly restored and the Bamboo Inn and main house are perfect examples. Today, ultra contemporary higher-density residential living is melting into the mix of an awesome inner-city neighborhood.

Getting Around

Metro Bus Service is available a block away on Classen Blvd. Please check local Embark bus service schedules and times of operation. OKC has awesome taxi services and VFH companies such as Lyft and Uber are available. Public Transportation is limited in OKC so a car or bike is still the best way to get around. However, within easy walking distance is OKC's finest dining, entertainment and shopping at the Classen Curve, Penn Square and the Western Avenue Corridor.

Other Things to Note

If you are a couple and wish to use ONLY the double bed in the bedroom, each nights stay is $100.00 plus associated AirBnB booking fees. If you are a couple and wish to use both the double bed in the bedroom AND the sleeper sofa in the living room (whether opened out or not) there will be an additional $15.00 dollar guest fee added to the $100.00 per night fee and associated AirBnB booking fees. For guests over 2 up to 4 there is a $15.00/night fee for each additional guest.

Millions of people are using Airbnb to sleep in strangers' homes, beds, and even couches. They have an amazing selection and you can't find their stuff anywhere else. There is a catch: you often need to contact several hosts to actually get a place to stay, so make sure you give yourself some lead time.

Place's rules

The interior of the Bamboo Inn is non-smoking however smoking is permitted anywhere on the property. I am unable to host dogs or pets of any kind because Duncan and Myrtle already live here. Although, I am willing to discuss special circumstances. Quiet time outside begins at 10:30 pm. Keeping the entrance gate closed and latched at all times is important so we don't have doggies escape on expedition. We have chosen not to charge a cleaning fee to our guests because we recognize folks using AirBnB are a caliber where they will leave the Inn with the same respect as they found it. Please thoroughly clean dishes, pots, pans and utensils…perform a little basic housekeeping with trash, litter etc. We gladly do the linens and bath towels. Check the Inn carefully before departing to make sure you aren't leaving behind any of your items. We will ship forgotten property Fedex Ground at your expense for the shipping plus a $35.00 handling fee. Should be enough to make you 'look' before you 'leave'! lol We welcome children of all ages but consider them as paying guests. Always more work than adults as we're certain you'll understand plus extra linens etc. A $15.00 per night fee for children, we consider, is in leu of a cleaning fee. House linens are washed in hot water are fresh, clean and in perfect condition. Do not wash house linens or towels with personal items. Do not use house towels, wash cloths or hand towels to remove make-up, clean shoes, windshields or other crazies. Permanently stained linens, towels, wash cloths, hand towels, comforters, blankets or upholstery will be your responsibility to pay the cost of dry cleaning or replacement cost.
