Description

The Space

I recommend making reservations at Pappy & Harriet’s and the Integratron in advance. They book up quickly! Please Read prior to booking in the winter months: Weather: It is winter in the Desert which means the weather is ERRATIC. That said, I recommend checking the forecast a few days prior to your visit. It will definitely affect your plans. Heat: Cabin is insulated however we don't have central heat. We use a portable heater which works great. Additionally, there is a cozy goose down comforter and extra blankets. Prior Guest's feedback is that is plenty warm. Bath: Reminder that the bathroom is detached from cabin. Also, it is an outdoor shower. There is PLENTY of hot water, however, here is feedback from last Guest: "took a bath at night and although there was enough hot water, due to the weather it ended got cold quickly". Therefore, as romantic as it is taking a bath in the evening, probably won't be so great this time of year. However, outdoor showers are romantic. Kitchen: We don't technically have a kitchen. There is NO sink. Closest water resource is the bathroom. There is a microwave, fridge, coffee maker, toaster oven, charcoal grill (with charcoal) and firewood for fire pit. I can also provide a slow cooker. There is a little plastic bin with various cooking materials/utensils. If you know that you will be cooking, let me know so I can have make sure you have the proper utensils. Reminder, wifi, mobile service is, well, I will just say it: "sucks". I find texting works well. I have landline should you need it and/or give it out if you need to be contacted. ( (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) ). Check-in: Reminder, this is set up as a self check-in, however we are available 24/7 and we live on the property. Don't worry, the cabin is very separate and private from our home. It helps if you are able to let me know your estimated time of arrival. It's NOT required, but if I have an idea I can get it warmed up. Animals/Pets: We have 3 dogs. They are extremely friendly. If they are out, they may come down to say "hello". Just a reminder they are super nice and they are only out when we are home. This falls under miscellaneous: We tried to create a rustic/vintage vibe therefore the bathroom sink and tub are antique. Due to their age, they have rust stains. Trust me, they are clean. We had a Guest that perhaps is to young to appreciate "older things" because she had thought it was not clean. I felt very bad that she left with that impression. Therefore, I thought I should mention it…. This is not meant to discourage you from booking, I just want to make sure our Guest's know exactly what to expect. I encourage questions and requests for things you may need prior to your visit! My goal is to make sure you enjoy your stay! Lastly, upon arrival: kick back, relax, explore the grounds and chill…. Additional description (this may be duplicate information): The Love Shack is a small cozy cabin (approx. 10x12) located in a true Desert Oasis known as Rimrock. Rimrock is a unique area bordering Pioneertown, CA. We are located, above Yucca Valley and at the base of Big Bear. Because we are 4,600 feet above sea level (just at the snow line), the summers are 10-15 degrees cooler than nearby Joshua Tree and 15-20 degrees cooler than Palm Springs. In addition the trees on our property provide lots of shade, cool breezes and the tranquil sounds of birds. The cabin itself has a rustic feel with all the comforts of home. The Love Shack includes: Full size bed, mini refrigerator, coffee maker/coffee/tea, microwave and cable TV. There is a private detached bathroom (steps away from the cabin) with an outside shower. Towels, soap, shampoo, hair dryer provided. You will find sweatshirts, hats, games, sunblock, mini travel iron/board, water, BBQ with charcoal, fire pit with wood, dishes, utensils, extra blankets and a First Aid Kit. If you forget something, I'm sure we can provide it! We do not require a minimum night stay. However from time to time Guest's request to stay another night. We are typically booked but we can provide other accommodations either at our other location (Maglietto's Star Gazer) or a Vintage Trailer located on our property. For more information on the Trailer, please email. The Star Gazer is listed on Airbnb. The Star Gazer has a different feel, i.e it's a wide open space with beautiful views! It is located across the street from a funky western town and steps away from Pappy and Harriet's.

Guest Access

Private detached Cabin and Bathroom offering complete privacy and seclusion. The Bathroom is steps away from the cabin with an outside shower for Love Shack Guests only. Feel free to roam around our property.

Interaction with Guests

Although we reside on the property, we typically keep to ourselves and respect the confidentiality and privacy of our guests. However, we are friendly and enjoy socializing. The Love Shack Cabin is SELF Check-in. We encourage you to reach out anytime of the day or night. We are usually home, however in the event you arrive and there is no one to greet you, we will let you know and make sure you have all instructions/directions, etc.

The Neighborhood

Rimrock is a small community approx. 5 miles West of Pioneertown, CA. Pi Town, as it is often referred, started as a live-in Old West motion picture set, built in the 1940s. Pi Town is the home of the famous Pappy & Harriet's Saloon. It is easily accessed via Pioneertown Road at California State Route 62 in the town of Yucca Valley. The gently winding, four-mile (6 km) drive northwest to Pioneer town has been designated a California Scenic Drive. The town started as a live-in Old West motion-picture set, built in the 1940s. The set was designed to provide a place for the actors to live while using their homes in the movie. A number of Westerns and early television shows were filmed in Pioneertown, including The Cisco Kid and Edgar Buchanan's Judge Roy Bean. Roy Rogers, Dick Curtis, and Russell Hayden were among the original developers and investors, and Gene Autry frequently taped his show at the six-lane Pioneer Bowl bowling alley.

Getting Around

Hiking and driving are best…..a four wheel drive is ideal if you're planning some off road activities or just doing some remote exploring. Please note, we are located at the base of Burns Canyon road where the pavement meets the dirt road (the back road to Big Bear).

Other Things to Note

Prior to your stay, you may want to print the following links for some suggestions and ideas of what to do during your stay: Guidebook: https://www.airbnb.com/manage-listing/3650457/guidebook Off Highway website: (URL HIDDEN) (Website hidden by Airbnb) Welcome to our special cabin. A few things to note: Complimentary water will be provided upon arrival. Mobile service is intermittent - AT&T seems to work best. Wifi is by request. Unfortunately, wifi is not the best up here. Ideally, it's best if you can go without it, however if it's a must, please inquire in advance. If you can wait til you're in town, the Frontier Cafe and Starbucks and several other retail establishments offer wifi. Things to bring: light jacket, sweater/sweatshirt, sunscreen, lip balm, hat, comfortable shoes (hiking shoes/flip flops). The High Desert is a very casual place and the weather can be unpredictable, therefore I recommend dressing in layers as well as comfortable, light clothing, i.e. linen, jeans, flip flops, tee shirts, tank tops, sun dresses, etc.

Millions of people are using Airbnb to sleep in strangers' homes, beds, and even couches. They have an amazing selection and you can't find their stuff anywhere else. There is a catch: you often need to contact several hosts to actually get a place to stay, so make sure you give yourself some lead time.

Place's rules

The only thing we ask is that you don't smoke or use candles in the cabin. Also, if you decide to use the bbq and/or fire pit, please keep the doors and windows of the Love Shac closed. Otherwise, the cabin will get smokey. Pets are welcome and encouraged, however the property is not fenced in. The cabin is carpeted so we prefer your critter to be potty trained.
