The Space

The tipi is the perfect space to relax, rest and rebound. Tipi sits on a very large property. Guests have access to 390 acres to explore. IMPORTANT: see filming, photography (includes flying drones) fee's at bottom. Guests with physical disabilities are welcome to stay in the Tipi. The Tipi sits up on a deck, though I can make arrangements for any special needs individual to experience the Tipi and the surrounding area. Please contact me. Inside sits a queen bed with bedding, pillows, blankets and there are four additional (custom 4 inch) thick sleeping pads (all with bedding) for additional guests. There are three natural incense that can be burned......mesquite, cedar and pinion if you choose to fill this space with these natural aromas. The Tipi has an automatic heater for winter and an air cooler for summer keeping guests very comfortable. Cow hide, buffalo hide, rabbit fir, elk antlers, among others decorate the inside. Small sitting area with interesting books and thick pads to relax on. Sitting Indian style is recommended too!! History of the Sioux (Lakota) Tipi design: The fabrication and sewing of the Tipi took place in South East Nebraska. Nebraska was used as a vibrant hunting ground for the Sioux/Lakota Indians in the 1700's along with N and S Dakota, Montana and Southern Canada. Sitting Bull, a Lakota/Sioux Chief, was arguably the most powerful and perhaps famous of all Native American chiefs and he lived successfully in this style Tipi as his shelter. Sitting Bull was born in 1831 in what is now called South Dakota. If desired, bring your own wood for campfires and sauna use. Sauna requires 6-7 bundles of wood and 3-4 hour heat up time. Please inquire if you would like to use. There is unlimited hiking, exploring, a sauna (wood fired) and a pool to cool off in. (Guests do use the pool but it is not heated at this time) After sometime in the sauna the pool can be very refreshing. The property has a natural spring and the water used on the property is from two deep water wells. This is off-grid living with solar power being used. This area has the best night view sky, better than Joshua Tree National Park. We have a rather nice outdoor fire pit for campfires. Lots of seating, very comfortable and communal. The kitchen is outdoors, rustic and communal. It is fully stocked with everything. Kitchen has a stove, oven, barbecue, refrigerator and large cooler for extra items you might have. Kitchen is powered by the sun (solar). Additional guest (after two) are $75 per person per night. We can discuss details if you have a special circumstance/family. Im flexible. Photography and filming fee's will be paid prior to arrival. Photography fee is $1,125/day. Filming fee is $2,225/day (negotiable on days) Size of crew can change these fee amounts. Please message me to discuss. No location tags, location descriptions allowed on any of the photo's/film. Airbnb fee's still apply and are separate.

Guest Access

Accessing the property comprises of detailed directions that must be followed since this property is off the beaten path. I meet guests at a location that is easy for them to find (I have a meeting point that is easy to locate).....then I lead you into the property. Some guests check in on there own and other guests will be given a short tour of the area. The tipi sits on 390 acres with additional structures, a few property stewards and other visiting guests. Your space is private, however, you are more than welcome to access other areas of the property that might have visiting guests. There is also an old/wise Chief that lives on the property. Campfire area is communal and available with comfortable seating. Bring your own wood. Guests have use of the pool. Not heated but refreshing after a day of hiking. Large sauna is also available and can seat many. Wood is required for the sauna too. Sauna is wood fired and takes three hours to heat. Loading of wood into the heat chamber during the three hours is required but is not a timely or difficult task. Kitchen is Communal.

Interaction with Guests

I will meet all guests and give them a short tour of the rental space/surrounding. Areas such as the pool, the sauna, campfire pit and outdoor kitchen will be shown. I can offer concierge service to any guests as I am very familiar with the restaurants, Joshua Tree National Park, Palm Springs and many other activities in the high and low deserts. Anything from where to get the best date shake (from the date palm tree) to the best sacred Indian petroglyphs in the area.

The Neighborhood

This property is like no other.......very vast and large, extremely unique, lots of hiking, many private areas to explore, meditate, relax, unwind and enjoy. The property is also available for weddings, photoshops, retreats, music concerts, special ceremonies, filming movies, etc.. Please contact me.

The property is 30 minutes from shopping and 15-20 min. to Pappy and Harriets bar and restaurant (downtown Pioneertown).

Other Things to Note

This property is off the beaten path and we are far into nature. We have owls, fox, donkey's and occasion coyote's that visit and live on the property. Please bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper as coyote's can be heard at night among a few other creatures. We also have fresh goat milk, fresh goat cheese and kifer yogurt....all from a neighboring farm (sometimes the goats are on vacation, so, guests must request this and speak with the host about this option in advance, no guarantees on these items). We welcome dogs on the property, however, guest who bring a dog/dog's onto the property assume full responsibility for any damage done by them. Additional cleaning fees may apply. Dogs that shed are not allowed. Most importantly, if the guest brings there pet onto the proper they fully understand and agree that we are not responsible for any actions caused by wildlife and our dogs onto guests dogs and vice versa. Our dogs are cute and friendly, however, if provoked they will act on instinct. If you have a unique dog please contact me to discuss. Guests assume all risk with there pets. We have Internet WiFi on the property but not in the Tipi.

Millions of people are using Airbnb to sleep in strangers' homes, beds, and even couches. They have an amazing selection and you can't find their stuff anywhere else. There is a catch: you often need to contact several hosts to actually get a place to stay, so make sure you give yourself some lead time.
