The Space We are on a secluded 5 acre parcel that backs onto a private reserve. Lots of wildlife sightings. The house is old and quirky and it has never "suffered" a gut renovation- but it is comfortable, very well maintained and everything works. Guest Access Guests have exclusive use of the hot tub, grill and fire pit. Open access to all 5 acres. Out buildings are off-limits. Interaction with Guests There is a cottage in the rear of the property where we often stay at weekends. So you may see us or not. If we are not there then there will be a caretaker available close by to help you with any issues. The Neighborhood What to do in and around Tannersville. Of course everything can be searched but here are our favorites:
HIKING: As much as or as little as you like:
A short drive from the house will get you to:
Trail heads on Platt Cove Road
North and South Lake Park- the site of the Mountain House & spectacular views over the Hudson valley
Devils Tombstone on route 214- hike to the top of Hunter Mountain to the Fire tower & take the sky ride down (or just take the sky ride).
For thrills Hunter has a zip line (we’ve not tried this yet – we like to keep our feet on the ground). But if you keep your eyes open you can probably see our house from it
Phoenicia – (take Route 214) the Tubing on the Esopus –starts memorial Day weekend.

Smoke House of the Catskills- Rte. 212, Veteran (just west of Saugerties)

Down the Mountain - on the trail of the Hudson Valley Painters: Thomas Cole’s House in Catskill: then cross the Rip van Winkle Bridge to: Frederick Church’s house Olana at Hudson: Getting Around Having a car is optimum but don't despair - there is a public transportation alternative. Adirondack Trailways and Pine Hill Trailways operate a once a day service to and from New York City. It takes about 3 hours and 40 minutes. You can request to be dropped on at the junction of 214 and 23A - it's then a 10 minute walk to the the house. Smiley's Taxis can get you in and around Tannersville & Hunter ...
