Amagansett is a hamlet in East Hampton. It is located on the south shore of Long Island and it is a super popular summer vacation destination. Interestingly, Amagansett means “the place of good water”, which is very true for the area as the shoreline here is stunning. This area of the United States was settled in the late 1600s and ever since has been a popular destination for vacationing members of the New York City populace.
Amagansett is an iconic place to spend a vacation because it is full of amazing things to do, sights to explore, and beaches to have fun at. Be sure to visit the best beach areas of the island, such as the Main Beach where beautiful white sand beaches, and deep, icy blue waters await visitors. Since it is a northern beach the waters are not going to be extremely warm but it is still perfect for swimming on a hot summer day. The beach also offers a great variety of water sports, like snorkeling, paddle boarding, and jet skiing. Equipment rentals are all available near the beach.
The Long House Preserve is an excellent spot to visit to see the lovely nature of Long Island. The lush plants and trees have the ability to transport visitors, metaphorically, from the busy island to a green oasis. Our favorite museum in the area is Guild Hall where lots of exhibits on opera and film are on display. Exhibits span across many eras and it is also located in a wonderful historical building.
The best area to stay at Amagansett is on the coast because staying in a beach house which overlooks the ocean is simply delightful. Vacation rentals in Amagansett are available all year around but since this is a very popular travel destination during summer, vacation home rentals can sell out fast.
Amagansett has short but very warm summers and cold winters. Summer is definitely the most popular time to pay Amagansett a visit but be prepared for some humidity.

— I love AllTheRooms because it is not only local homes for renting, and not only hotels, but everything combined. When I am about to book a place to stay, I usually spend a couple of hours looking through both hotel sites and local home sites, comparing the prices and places.
— The great thing about AllTheRooms is their ability to cover all bases. If you are travelling solo, with a partner, friends or even a larger family. There is something there for everyone and that is a hugely powerful tool that I believe it boasts moreso than competitors.
— I love that AllTheRooms has everything in one place when I need to find accommodations that fit my family. Plus it provides all the details I need to help me make the best choice. I often recommend AllTheRooms to friends and family visiting NYC and they agree that it’s a great. Such a time saver!
