There's also tons of fun to be had in the city itself, including fascinating history museums, the Teton National Forest, and the Buffalo Bill Dam. Cody is also great for families looking for an authentic Old West experience, complete with fun rodeos, saloons, and sites from the pioneer days.

Things to Do in Cody

The big attraction in Cody is the amazing Buffalo Bill Historical Center, which includes five museums: the Museum of the Plains Indian, the Cody Firearms Museum, Draper Natural Historic Museum, the Whitney Western Art Museum, and the Buffalo Bill Museum.

Buffalo Bill Dam is another popular place to visit, where people can overlook the incredible dam and learn about its construction at the museum.

To really experience the Old West, head to the Old Trial Town. Step back in time and see original log cabins and other western artifacts, as well as the grave of Jeremiah Johnston and other historic buildings. For a night out, the Code Nite Rodeo is known as the rodeo capital of the world and is nothing short a great time.

The best times to visit Cody is during the summer months. For fewer crowds, April to May is also good.
