Getting There

The Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport is one of the top 5 largest airports in the country and is serviced by most major airlines. Finding a flight should never be a problem.

Weather & Climate

Summers are hot in Dallas, and winters tend to get cold enough for the occasional sprinkle of snow. Dallas enjoys warm weather during the months of March to May, and September to October. In the Fall, crowds grow due to the Texas State Fair. The state fair is also the time of the Red River Showdown, an annual college football game between the University of Texas Longhorns and their rivals the Oklahoma Sooners.

Things to Do & Attractions

The Sixth Floor Museum is a must-visit when in the city, as it documents the life and death of the much loved president of John F. Kennedy. Another popular museum is the Nasher Sculpture Center located in the Arts District. The museum is home to one of the finest collections of modern and contemporary sculptures in the world. Also, don´t forget to find new experiences in the Perot Museum of Nature and Science.

To get the best view of the city, visitors should pay a visit to Reunion Tower, one of the city’s best-loved landmarks. From the tower’s rotating viewing gallery, you will get a 360-degree view of the city, 561 feet high over street level.

If you find yourself eager to explore the area outside of Dallas, you can always make the drive to the neighboring city of Fort Worth to see experience a little more of Texan life.

Events

The American Airlines Center is a multi-purpose arena and home to the Dallas Stars and Dallas Mavericks, a hot spot for sports fans. The stadium offers seating for up to 21,000 people, with plenty of bars for snacking during the game.

The AT&T stadium serves as the home of the Dallas Cowboys, a world-class athletic structure, and a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center is another great venue in the city, ranked as one of the world’s most impressive orchestra halls.

The city is also home to the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, which is one of the largest in the nation, and is the site of many major national and international conventions.

Nightlife

Dallas and Austin have a pretty heated rivalry when it comes to which city has the best nightlife in Texas. Austin may have the upper hand when it comes to live music, but for a better bar and club scene partyers enjoy Dallas. Lower Greenville is a popular area for nightlife with college students from nearby SMU, Oak Lawn attracts a lively LGBTQ crowd, and Uptown is the epicenter for fancier hangouts.

Food & Drink

Fearing’s is one of Dallas most special dining experiences, but anyone planning on a meal here should be ready to drop some major cash. There are plenty of other fine dining restaurants though including The Mansion and The Capital Grille. For a more casual experience and a chance to try some of Texas’s famous BBQ check out Lockhart Smokehouse for dinner or Cattleack at lunchtime.

Art & Culture

For more cultural experiences, you can't miss the Meadows Museum, a performance at the Dallas Theater Center, watching a few rounds of jousting at Medieval Times, or catching a Cowboys game at AT&T Stadium.

The city of Dallas is made up of various different districts, each of which are diverse with something new and exciting to offer. Central Dallas is home to downtown Dallas, Uptown, the Design District, the Arts District, and various other locations.

The Arts and Design Districts are continuously growing areas that have a great arts scene, fine-dining, fantastic shopping and some large urban green spaces. It is also here that you will find the West End District, which is home to some of the city’s most iconic monuments, the Old Red Museum and the LFK Memorial Plaza.

Dallas vacation rentals in this area are in the center of it all, and you will never have to travel far to be within walking distance to eateries and nightlife.

If you don’t want to be located in the hustle and bustle of downtown, Victory Park is a great alternative situated northwest of downtown. The space was once a rail yard and power plant, but has since been transformed into a spacious residential area, full of vacation rentals and apartments.

For something less intense, the Dallas World Aquarium and Zoo is located in the West End Historic District of downtown.
