Green Lake is a small community on the shores of Green Lake itself. It's been been a top destination in the state of Wisconsin for more than a century. Top nearby attractions include four golf courses, water sports, spas, and of course excellent fishing.
In town you can stroll around the Green Lake town square and see the beautiful, historic former Green Lake County Courthouse which is now the community center. The Thrasher Opera House always has some great shows and performances.
Down on the lake visitors can rent boats, pontoons, kayaks, and paddle boards for exploring the stunning waters. There are more than 27 miles of shoreline to explore. Fisherman will be hoping to find smallmouth, walleye, panfish, northern pike, musky, and others.
Hiking and biking is possible in the area with many trails. Cyclists can loop the lake or head off on the Mascoutin Valley State Park Trail. Winter brings snowy trails for skiing, snowmobiling, and winter hikes plus ice boating on the frozen lake.
There is an Amish community also found in Green Lake, settlements of Old Order Amish can be seen in the Green Lake area.
Winter is a really fun time to visit with all the celebrations and winter activities. Summer is of course also lovely out on the lake, and with some gorgeous sunsets. Plus the warm months are packed with plenty of outdoor concerts and water ski shows.
