On the northern coast of Hawaii's Kauai island, Hanalei is a charming, paradise-like location that was the filming spot for the movie The South Pacific.
The beaches are a major appeal for traveling to Hanalei. Though the entirety of Kauai island is a beach coastline, not all beaches are created equal and some of the most beautiful spots are here in Hanalei. Kauapea (Secret) Beach is a local favorite, as is Keʻe Beach. The latter is famous as being a place where ancient Hawaiian natives would once practice their hula dancing.
December through to March is the most pleasant time to travel to Hanalei as the temperatures are warm.
