Independence is a suburb of Cleveland that lies in northeast Ohio. It's home to a fun Rock & Roll hall of fame, several museums, a zoo, and beautiful gardens.
One of the most popular things to do in Independence is to visit the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. It's an experience unlike most museums as it is spread out over six floors. Yes really! In the hall of fame, you'll find original manuscripts, homages to some of the 'Kings of Rock & Roll', and tons of interactive exhibits. It's a great place to spend the whole day.
There are at least two more museums that are worth your time, the first is the Cleveland Museum of Art which displays international art. It's home to a strong collection of American art and Medieval art from Europe and Asia. The second best museum to visit is The Cleveland Museum of Natural History, which is home to a number of outstanding collections, from paleontology to botany. Probably one of the most exciting is that of Lucy. She is a three-million-year-old human ancestor. While in the museum, be sure to visit the Kirkland Hall of Prehistoric life, which is home to enormous dinosaur skeletons that tower over you and other visitors as they walk through the hall.
Some other excellent places to visit while in Independence are the Cleveland Botanical Garden, home to tropical and native plants, and Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, which is a great place to take the kids.
Independence offers a large number of budget, mid-range and luxury hotels to choose from. Home rentals come in all shapes and sizes, whether you're looking for a small one-bedroom apartment or a larger house for your whole family.
