Viking enthusiasts will enjoy the popular seaside town of Largs, right on the Firth of Clyde, 33 miles from Glasgow, Scotland. According to historians, Vikings had a large battle here in 1263 and there is an annual festival each year, as well as a Viking museum.
The Viking heritage of Largs can be discovered in the interactive attraction, Vikingar! and at the mentioned festival where the battles are re-enacted before a grand firework display, among other celebrations. Take a ferry across to the Isle of Cumbrae, a mile off the shores of Largs, a fun family outing in summer. Glasgow is also easily accessed by train and bus.
Come to Largs in summer for dry, sunny weather and more hours of daylight.
