Lavonia is a historic town just a few miles from Lake Hartwell. It's claim to fame is being the smallest city in the USA with an original Carnegie Library. Tugaloo Park on Lake Hartwell is where you'll find water sports and camping opportunities. Downtown is full of antique shops, coffee shops, and restaurants.
Lavonia is also famous for its local performances of the folk life play, The Land of Spirit Folk, which is a reflection of the heritage and culture of the area. It's a real community effort and every play season (June) the Land of Spirit production features a different theme or story. Tugallo Park is the place to go for great views and fun on Lake Hartwell. The park is on a tree filled peninsula and trails will take you through walnut, oak and cherry trees. In summer you can swim, fish, go boating, and enjoy the huge lake and its sandy shores.
A visit in summer will allow you to see The Folk Life Play and enjoy the best of the outdoor lake activities.
