Things to Do in Letterkenny

Don't miss out historic sites such as the Cathedral of St. Eunan and St. Columba (dating back to the 1890s) and is made from white sandstone. Donegal County Museum is located inside the old Letterkenny Workhouse and houses displays covering thousands of years of local history, folklore and archeology.

Get out into the fresh air at Glenveagh National Park boasting hectares of heathland, forest, and hilly slopes all around the stunning Lough Veagh. Here, visitors can choose from various walking trails around the park. After, find your way to the 1870s Glenveagh Castle which stands majestically over the park and its own gardens. You can tour the castle and uncover the past of its various inhabitants.

Other attractions include the wonderful Mount Errigal which rises over the Gelnveach Park and is easily hiked up to. Another must-see is the glacial fjord, Lough Swilly. D

Driving out of Letterkenny is certainly worth doing, as you'll be taken on sweeping coastal roads of the most incredible scenery on the Wild Atlantic Way, head to Fanad Pensinsula for stunning views from the lighthouse.
