Needles is south of Las Vegas, but is located directly on the California side of the California-Arizona border. It is an excellent place to launch a vacation for family fun, a couples’ getaway, or even a long weekend away with friends. Needles, California is mainly known for being situated on the banks of the Colorado River.

You are definitely going to want to check out the Needles Regional Museum, it’s a must see and a great opportunity for everyone in your group. Golfing at Rivers Edge Golf Course is also a great option or you could check out the nearby Oatman Gold Mining Center. Burros roam freely and there are mock old west gunfights. One of more popular activities for the whole family is the cavern tours at Mitchell Caverns. Everyone in your group gets to spend time together and have an excellent time. Needles is also pretty close to the extremely popular Lake Havasu, where people can enjoy water activities or have some fun in the notoriously lively town.

Visitors should always try to stay as close to the Colorado River as possible. It is more scenic and the waters will provide some relief from the heat.

Best Time to Visit Needles

Needles is very much in the desert so be prepared for some toasty temperatures. Unless the plan is to spend the entirety of the vacation on the river or at Lake Havasu, we would recommend not coming in the summer.

Food in Needles

There are some mouthwatering spots for foodies to sample when visiting Needles. Wagon Wheel is known for having some of the best classic American food in the area. If you love Mexican, then you’re going to want also to check out Munchy's Cafe, which is a local favorite in Needles.
