Pattaya, on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand, is a city built around a large crescent bay. Tourists descend on the city to sun worship and let their hair down. The beach is made up of two principle bays, both of which are lined with restaurants and bars. The city first became a top destination for Americans during the Vietnam War who were seeking a place to relax during time off. Today, it's a top party destination, with tons of bars and clubs throughout the city.

There are tons of fun activities in the area, including golf, go-kart racing and day trips to theme parks. If you like animals there is an Elephant village, crocodile farms and aquariums with tropical sea life.

Visitors to Pattaya can expect hot and humid temperatures year round, making the local beaches essential. However the months of September and October are particularly wet, so avoid those months to miss the rain.
