Port Antonio, on the northern reach of the island of Jamaica, is debatably the most beautiful part of the island. Besides the crystal clear waters surrounding Port Antonio’s many beaches, inland is also populated by gorgeous jungle scenery complete with waterfalls. The town itself, capital of Jamaica’s Portland Parish, is lively and has some good examples of colonial architecture.
For some relaxation in the sand, visitors should make their way to Winifred Beach or the Blue Lagoon, which is filled by the Caribbean. Inland, tourists can take rafting trips along the Rio Grande, and in the John Crow Mountains, adventurers can find Reach and Somerset Falls.
May to June and October through December are the rainiest months but also usually the times when prices are lowest.
