Rogers, AR is located in the northwestern corner of the state. It is one of the fastest growing areas in the country. Interestingly, Rogers’s growth is largely thanks to it being the place where the first ever Walmart store was opened. This area of Arkansas wasn’t settled until the 1800s but now because of the presence of the business giants it has become a financial hub of not just Arkansas but much of the rest of the country. There are also a lot of things to do in Rogers including visiting museums, parks, historical landmarks, restaurants, and lovely outdoors areas.
Historical landmarks, museums, heritage sites, outdoors activities and much more await visitors in Rogers. Visit one of the many great museums, which tell the story of Rogers and Arkansas as well. Check out Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. The building itself is gorgeous and the exhibits are exceptional. Here tourists can learn a lot about American art and see some local talent, as much of the art was done by artists based in Arkansas. Additionally, anyone traveling with children should check out the Amazeum, which is a very fun children’s museum. Rogers Regional Historical Museum is also a superb location to see lots of old art pieces and everyday objects used by settlers.
For a fun day in the wilderness check out War Eagle on Beaver Lake. Walk into the mountain through a huge natural entrance formation. The underground cave systems are amazing and mesmerizing. There are story telling tours that will give more information but are entertaining enough to keep the whole family engaged. Also visit the Hobbs State Park Conservation Area where guests can hike, bike, hunt, fish, camp and spend quality time on the lake.
Finally, Rogers is home to the Walmart Music Pavilion, which is a huge outdoor amphitheater and often attracts well-known talent.
The best area to stay in Rogers is the east part of the city which has the best access to many of the nature areas we mentioned. It is also close to lots of restaurants, parks, cafes, golf courses, and museums.
The best time to visit Rogers is in September when the weather is amazing and folks can spend plenty of time outside exploring. September is preferable to the traditional summer months because June through August can get very hot and muggy.
