Who doesn’t love a town with a rhyming name? This particular town in Arizona was named in about the most Wild-West way possible. After an incredibly long poker game that wouldn't end, two rivals decided “this town [then just a ranch] ain’t big enough for the two of us”. They decided to flip for it, and if one of the gentlemen were to “show low” he could stay. The man pulled a 2 of clubs, the lowest card possible and said “show low it is”. Now the town is called Show Low and the main street is called Deuce of Clubs.

Located at the edge of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, Show Low is ripe with outdoor activities. Fishermen, boaters, and campers can often be found frequenting Fool Hollow Lake, Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area, and Show Low Lake.

Summers, like in much of Arizona, can at times be unbearable. Try visiting in the off-seasons of fall and spring.
