The capital of Sweden encompasses 14 islands and more than 50 bridges on an extensive Baltic Sea archipelago. Stockholm is covered with cobblestone streets and ochre-colored buildings of the old town Gamla Stan.

Things to Do in Stockholm

This city is home to the Nobel Museum, the Kungliga Slottet Royal Palace, and the 13th-century Storkyrkan Cathedral. All of these and more are accessible for sightseeing by boats that transport passengers between the islands.

Many of Stockholm´s attractions are open to the public, such as the Royal family’s Drottningholm Palace and Gardens on Lovön Island, the Skansen open-air museum on Djurgården Island, and the Vasa Museum which holds a 17th-century warship.

For a more modern experience, visit the contemporary art museum of Moderna Museet on Skeppsholmen Island with artwork by Kandinsky, Matisse and Dali, as well as the Fotografiska contemporary photography museum on Södermalm Island, which is filled with bohemian shops, galleries, and a lively nightscene.

Best Time to Visit Stockholm

Summer is definitely the best season to visit Stockholm because temperatures are the warmest with highs in the 70's, and daylight lasts the longest. However, it is also the priciest season.
