Known as the gateway to Cherohala Skyway and the Cherokee National Forest, Tellico Plains is situated in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. It's a small, slow-paced charming town, where local life is about community, friends and events that bring everyone together.

Things to Do in Tellico Plains

The surrounding unspoiled wilderness in Tellico Plains is waiting to be discovered, whether by hiking, cycling, camping or swimming. Bald River Falls is an easily-accessed waterfall and a peaceful place to begin your visit to the area, plus just beyond it you will find another waterfall, Baby Falls. Elsewhere, the Cherohala Skyway is an amazing 43-mile scenic byway, one of the most popular in the USA and a wonderful drive across stretches of mountains and valleys.

Staying in town you can wander around the Charles Hall Museum for a taste of the town's history and a glimpse into its traditional mountain hertiage and Cherokee roots. In fall, you can experience the Coker Creek Gold Festival -- good old-fashioned fun for all the family in town.
