Things to Do in Ubud

Some of the most remarkable places to visit are the intricately carved Goa Gajah, or Elephant Cave, the Gunung Kawi with its rock-cut shrines, and the Ubud Monkey Forest nature reserve and temple complex, where macaques play amid jungle vines and overgrown Hindu monuments.

Modern Ubud is home to art museums such as the Neka and the Agung Rai, which display traditional and contemporary works, and the Royal Palaca where traditional Balinese dance performances take place. Additionally, a bit south of Ubud you´ll find famous craft villages known for stone and wood carvings, and jewelry, such as Mas, Celuk, and Batabulan.

Indonesian weather is warm and humid all year-round, but peak travel happens during the dry season covering July through September. The BaliSpirit Festival takes place during March and April and combines yoga, dance and live world music. During October the Ubud Readers and Writers Festival takes place.
