Van Buren is a small town located in the southeastern Missouri Ozarks, known for the Current River. Here, visitors can fish and swim in the river, as well as visit one of the world’s largest springs, Big Spring. The town is also right on the outskirts of Mark Twain National Forest, and Clearwater Lake and Dam are just a few miles away.
The main attraction in Van Buren is Big Spring, the largest spring in the state, and unmissable during a visit to the Ozarks. If you are driving there, take the scenic route -- Skyline Drive is perfect to take in a stunning Ozark sunset as well as impressive views along the Current River Valley.
Elsewhere, the Current River was once very important byway for Native Americans and the lumber industry in Van Buren, although nowadays it's popular with fishermen, canoers, and kayakers and is perfect for rafting and tubing.
Nearby in the Ozarks are the Rocky Falls, one of the most beautiful spots in the state, Peck Ranch Conservation Area, and more natural springs.
Summer is the best time to plan a vacation in Van Buren with warm, comfortable temperatures for being outside in nature.
