Vashon Island, or simply 'Vashon', is a welcoming and secluded place in King County. With no bridges or roads connecting the island to the mainland, vacationers can enjoy a truly private escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Vashon is home to a number of parks and trails, all with Mount Rainier in the background, as well as beaches, art galleries, and museums.
For some relaxation and picturesque surroundings, head to Point Robinson. Here, visitors can tour the lighthouse or simply unwind on the sandy beach. Another great beach to check out is in Maury Island Marine Park, complete with beautiful views.
Lavender Hill Farm is also popular, being where guests can wander through the blooming fields in the summer. For wildlife, make your way to the wetlands at Fisher Pond.
To learn more about the island and its past, the Vashon-Maury Island Heritage Museum is the place to be.
The best time to visit Vashon is during the warm summer months.
