Wellsboro is a small borough in Tioga County, Pennsylvania known for Victorian houses and an authentic small town vibe. The town is also home to the Grand Canyon of Pennslyvania, otherwise known as Pine Creek Gorge, in the Tioga State Forest.
In town, you’ll be charmed by the tall, black gaslights that still stand in a section of Main St. In Wellsboro, you can find things like the drum shaped Wellsboro Diner, serving up delicious food since 1939, an old, brick jailhouse, and a movie house.
Outside the town, you can spend up to a few days exploring the 47-mile Pine Creek Gorge, with its dramatic scenery, wildlife, numerous trees, and hiking trails. Look for roaming creatures, such as white-tailed deer, black bears, eagles, and beavers that live in the woods. The old railroad has been turned into a cycle trail and you can explore the stunning gorge as it cuts into the Appalachian Plateau.
