Yellow Springs is known as a colorful hippie enclave -- a cool, relaxed and eclectic community just a short drive from Columbus and home to Antioch College. Out of town you can hike around John Bryan State Park or Glen Helen with 1000-acres of beautiful nature. Alternatively, check out Clifton Gorge, another peaceful spot to appreciate the surroundings.
Hang out in the trendy downtown in Yellow Springs where the free-spirited vibe is strong. Sip on some artisanal coffee or head to the Yellow Springs Brewery for handmade craft brew then stop by the quirky Super Fly Comics for your latest favorite issue or just for the friendly atmosphere.
Afterwards, take a hike around Glen Helen, complete with cliffs, wildflowers and waterfalls, plenty of secluded trails and wooden bridges plus wildlife and many photo opportunities. Clifton Gorge also has great trails and views, or if you prefer exploring on two wheels, rent a bike and travel around John Bryan State Park.
For the younger members of your group, check out working dairy farm Young’s Jersey Dairy for homemade cheese and ice cream (also mini gold and a petting zoo).
Yellow Springs is popular in June and October, when visitors flock here for the Street Fair.
