Yuma is surrounded by open spaces that offer great hiking trails, even for beginners. Some routes to consider include the Painted Desert Trail at the Imperial National Wildlife Refuge, or trekking through Palm Canyon.

Owing to its desert location, Yuma can get very hot. As such the best times to visit are in the spring or fall.
