Bloodstock. The name says it all. Picture Woodstock but with all black clothing, head banging and plenty of satanic and apocalyptic references. The festival’s name comes from the local myth of the Derby Ram. The ram was so large that when a butcher slaughtered it he drowned in the animal’s blood. Got a feel for the festival’s ambiance now? The U.K.’s main metal music festival, Bloodstock will leave your ears ringing and your desire to mosh pit and headbang fully satisfied.

Where to Stay for Bloodstock

The festival encourages camping and offers tickets for reserved camping space, but in case you aren’t up for the camping scene, we’ve found a couple off-site options that you might prefer.

Airbnb – This bedroom with a private bathroom gets a five-star review and is a 15-minute car ride from the festival. At $49 it’s an economic way to let your ears rest in private in between concerts.

Hotel – The most comfortable option in the area is the four-star Swinfen Hall Hotel. Rooms start at $201 per night. With just 17 rooms in this English country mansion, festival goers searching for a change in scenery in between concerts will find it here.

Bed and Breakfast – This Airbnb is just a few minutes by car from the festival. With great reviews of the accommodations and particularly the breakfast (the host has authored cookbooks) it’s a hard option to turn down. At $90 per night, it won’t break the bank either.
