Love folk music and want to party at Newport Folk Festival? We’re here to help with top tips so you can get the most out of the festival weekend. Taking to the stage this year are the likes of Fleet Foxes, Regina Spektor and John Prine — don’t miss out!
1. Park in town
It’s better to park in town and take a ferry to the festival site as there’s not much parking available near to the festival site. There are water shuttles running between Perotti Park and Providence to the festival site at Fort Adams. The water taxi service starts at 8 am.
2. Opening times
Gates open at 10 am on Friday 28 July, Saturday 29 July and Sunday 30 July. Music starts at 11 am and stops at sundown.
3. Lineup schedule
The lineup schedule will be posted just before the event. So check back on the Newport Folk Festival website.
4. Bring a chair
Low-backed chairs (under 30 inches) are allowed — so make the most of it and bring a chair for maximum comfort.
5. Boozy wristbands
If you’re over 21 and like to drink, you’ll need to collect a wristband before entering the wine and beer gardens. Wristbands can be collected at stands located in the festival site.
6. Beer Garden hours
The beer gardens are open from 12 pm – 6:30 pm.
