Gem and Jam is a three-day party in Tucson Arizona that brings one of the most diverse music lineups we’ve stumbled across. Electronic, rock, bluegrass, funk, house and jazz will keep your head bobbing in different ways throughout the festival. There are even representatives from a group of artists called Trap House Jazz Collective, just in case you were looking for something brand new.
Music is far from the only attraction, however. Art galleries, dance performances, and a variety of workshops provide plenty of entertainment if you want a break from the stage and the noise. The festival gets its name from the Tucson Gem Mineral and Fossil Showcase and draws in many showcase attendees looking to check out the music and art scene at night.
So for all those of you headed to the festival, we’re here to offer you an insider’s guide to the Gem and Jam Music Festival to help you maximize your festival experience.
Mix it up
So you bought your ticket because you love the bluegrass artists on the lineup. That doesn’t mean you should skip the electronic DJ’s and the rock bands. This festival is built on musical diversity, so take advantage of what’s available.
Study the lineup
The website has the full lineup, complete with artists bios and their social media pages. While you may know a few groups, the lineup page may introduce you to some new artists whose sounds catch your attention.
If you’re not up for staying in a hotel, camping on the festival grounds is a solid option. Just make sure you know the rules! A car camping pass covers four people and an RV pass covers six. Any additional campers will bring additional charges ($55 per extra attendee). The festival’s general info page has the details.
