The Space

This is NOT a private room, just an airbed in a living room which is apparently a shared space. Nevertheless, the drapes around the bed create a sense of privacy. It's for those who do not mind crashing out anywhere for a night or two. This airbed is one of the listings I have on Airbnb. Please refer to additional rooms under my profile if you prefer a private space. Light sleepers, be forewarned! The bed is located in the living room, so you may hear others walking by, or getting in and out of the house late at night. There are 1.5 bathrooms in the house. The full bathroom is upstairs and the partial bathroom is in the kitchen downstairs.

Guest Access

You have the run of the house during your stay except other tenant's bedrooms. You will share the bathrooms and the kitchen with other guests. If you book at least 3 nights you can do the laundry in the basement which has a washer, a dryer and detergent. You can cook or store your food in the fridge in the kitchen. Paper plates, plastic utensils and cups are on the refrigerator. Ceramic plates and bowls are in the cupboard and the silverware is by the microwave.

Interaction with Guests

Most of the time I am busy with school and homework so I tend to be out of your sight. However, please feel free to message or call me if you need help or have any questions, issues or concerns.

The Neighborhood

It is a very leafy quiet historical neighborhood. The house is located near the bridge crossing to Lafayette and minutes away by walking to the campus and entertainment. Getting Around

I can give you a ride to the airport or any destination for a fare cheaper than Uber or Lyft. Please ask for a quote and availability. You can park in the unpaved driveway which is good for just one car and is first come first served. Please do not pull up in or try to drive through the narrow way since you could risk scratching your car. You can also park on the street which is good for 2 hours from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. Monday through Friday or park behind the backyard of the house. There is NO parking enforcement on weekends.

Other Things to Note

• The doorbell does not work, so please knock on the door when you arrive during the day. If you are checking in late at night, please message me shortly before your arrival, and I will leave the door unlocked to avoid you waking up other guests. • There is a space heater and a fan provided in the room, in case you need them despite the house temperature being maintained at 68-70 °F (20-21 °C) by the central furnace in winter. • You will receive a house key on arrival. Please make sure the front door shuts all the way and that you lock it when leaving the house for security (just turn the lock to the upright position with your hand from the inside and close the door behind you). When you come back, please also lock the front door but NEVER slide the bolt, as other guests may be coming in later. There was an incident in which a guest was really upset because another guest slid the bolt and he could not get in the house. • Should you run into any problems that prevent you from staying conveniently, please contact me immediately 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please also knock on the door for help in case of being locked out. Please remember that you pay to stay at my place, so do not even feel bad because you think you disturb me. Just do it without hesitation! • The house was built in 1930 and has been kept in its original condition. Therefore, it is not unusual to see the paint peeling or cracking, hear squeaks as you walk, or spot any marks of wear and tear that you probably take as a sign of uncleanliness. However, we do our best to make sure the house is spotless and your bed is clean and ready by the time you arrive. Due to the nature of an ancient house coupled with a lack of understanding of it, some of the guests regard the house with disdain and leave negative reviews while the majority of them appreciate the affordability, the proximity to the campus, and the fact that this place is a favorable alternative when all hotel rooms are sold out or too expensive, so I humbly ask you not to expect the house to be a 4-or-5-star hotel room for the price you pay for and take all these aspects into consideration before you book. • I do not accept an extra guest that exceeds the maximum occupancy of the room in any circumstances.

Millions of people are using Airbnb to sleep in strangers' homes, beds, and even couches. They have an amazing selection and you can't find their stuff anywhere else. There is a catch: you often need to contact several hosts to actually get a place to stay, so make sure you give yourself some lead time.

Place's rules

• Please keep the noise to a minimum, especially at night as you may be staying with other guests in the same house. This includes but is not limited to stomping, running, talking loudly, slamming doors, and music. I am serious about this because some of you will violate this rule. There are ways you can avoid this such as using earbuds, trying to walk as gently as you can and holding the door firmly when closing it to avoid banging it. Basically, have common sense and use it. Please keep in mind that this wooden house is very old. If you do any of those things loudly, the other guests in the same house can hear it as well. This is not to say that you cannot make any noise at all. A little bit of controlled noise is okay as long as you are being mindful of it. I can easily tell someone stomping without care from walking while trying not to wake people up. • Please make sure the lights, fan and heater are turned off when leaving the house. • Please clean up after yourself in the bathroom and the kitchen. • Please keep the blue curtain inside the shower stall when showering to prevent water from wetting the floor. • Please DO NOT flush tampons, sanitary napkins, condoms or excessive amounts of tissues. The toilet can get clogged easily and turn into a disaster! • Doing laundry is allowed for a 3-night minimum stay. • No laundry after 9 p.m. • Please do not use the towel or the washrag to remove any stains. Use the tissues provided. • Please do not take anything that is not yours from the house. • Please never take the food or drink that is not yours from the kitchen. • After 12.00 pm. the area MUST be cleared. Please leave the key in the room where you found them. If you decide to check out late or cannot make it back in time, you can definitely leave your belongings in the living room. Please DO NOT take the key with you outside. • I reserve the right to reprimand you if you do not follow the house rules and charge you for any damaged or lost property. • Please book other place if you think you cannot comply with the rules.
