Incredible ocean view faces due West for sunset every night and ocean sounds to rock you to sleep. Perfect for personal rejuvenation or even board retreats. Lots of private sleeping space including: two full bedrooms w/full baths and good queen beds; additional beds set up in spare rooms nicely with comfy queen and living quarters; living room (doors close for privacy) has two very comfortable couch beds--futon and sofa; and cozy outbuilding has private bed w/desk, heater & view. Plenty of blankets, pillows and clean linen and towels. Gas heat in main house. Living/great room is 20' x 35' with attached full kitchen, vaulted ceilings with with huge dining table that easily seats 10 plus and an extra dining/meeting table that seats six. Five extra single mattresses stored in the garage for larger groups. Yoga/meditation platform below. It's also perfect as a solitary retreat or for a romantic getaway.
It's 1/4 mile walk downhill to the Ocean (and then back uphill) or drive 1 1/2 miles to trail heads at magnificent Shelter Cove--where the surfers gather--and Black Sands Beaches. There is ocean fishing and a free 9 hole golf-course. We're just minutes from the trailheads of the BLM managed King Range Conservation Area so you can do a day or multi-night hike in the heart of the legendary Lost Coast.
Fully equipped kitchen with all appliances, plates, glasses, utensils, pots, pans, coffee machine, 4-slice toaster, toaster over, blender, microwave, etc. We provide coffee, sugar, herbs/spices, shampoo, soap & toilet paper. Cul de sac privacy so there's no traffic whizzing by. We have no TV/Cable reception; however, you can watch one of the hundred in-house VHS's or DVD's on our four TVs in the bedrooms and the living room.
Cell phone reception is OK (we use it all the time) and is better toward ocean, which we are near. However, it works well only for some carriers. Carriers that may not be serviced in the house include AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile. This is where you forget it all.
Dining out includes The Cove Restaurant for fine seafood, steak and vegetarian cuisine, Delgados Pizza for take out, and Marinos Bar if that's your pleasure. Daytime fair at the Deli for Fish and Chips and Fishtank Coffee house for breakfast and lunch. There is an incredibly stocked and reasonably priced General Store two miles uphill.

By renting from us you will abide by the following agreement.
Summary: We request that you sign a renters agreement. We ask that you modestly clean after yourself including dishes in the dishwasher or by hand, wipe table tops, and do a bit of sweeping. We'll do the laundry and vacuuming. Please leave towels and bedsheets near the washer so we know what needs washing. Garbage and recycling taken to bins in garage. Place leftover vegetables, bread, etc. in the compost pile. Take all meat product waste with you, please, so it doesn't smell up the place. Be respectful of our one neighbor, noise wise. They are a tolerant, easy, wonderful couple. It's end of the road privacy. Park in our driveway or right next door. Lock all doors when departing, though it's a very safe, semi-rural area. Dogs must be pre-approved and can be charged as one extra person. No cats. We retreat here, too and while no pets live here, dogs occasionally inhabit the place. You enter the property at your own risk. Owner is not responsible for theft or injury.
Specific Rules in Renters Agreement:
a. Guests will be responsible for doing dishes either by dishwasher or by hand.
b. Guests will strip bed(s) of linen used and collect towels, place mats, napkins and other soiled/utilized washable items and place either at foot of bed, in a pile by sliding glass door in living room or near washing machine in the garage. Guests are not responsible for washing any items unless they are stained by guests and/or require immediate attention. Guests may use washer/dryer.
c. Guests will lock all doors, including sliding glass doors, and return key.
d. Guests will notify owner immediately of any problems, especially ones that could damage the property or inconvenience guests, so that owner can remedy the situation as quickly as possible.
e. There is a land-line phone on premises in the event your cell phone does not work. You may make unlimited regional calls free of charge.
f. Guests will be respectful of neighbors regarding noise, particularly after 9 pm and before 9 am. No radio or loud music will be played outdoors after 8:30 pm.
g. Front-facing sliding garage door will not be opened by guests at any time, unless prior arrangements are made, because neighbors’ dogs are prone to enter and because garage door came off its tracks one time and we don't want to inconvenience you. Garage may be entered by door facing redwood deck. Tools, bicycles, exercise and sports equipment, etc. in garage are NOT to be used by guests.
h. Smoking is NOT allowed on or near any structure and/or deck on property.
i. People other than those in the Guest party set forth above may not stay overnight in the property. Any other person in the property is the sole responsibility of Guest.
j. The property is privately owned; the owners are not responsible for any accidents, injuries or illness that occurs while on the premises or its facilities. The Homeowners are not responsible for the loss of personal belongings or valuables of the guest. By accepting this reservation, it is agreed that all guests are expressly assuming the risk of any harm arising from their use of the premises or others whom they invite to use the premises. Guest(s) shall not sue the owner for any damages whatsoever. All legal disputes and/or claims for damages will be presented to and resolved by a professional, reputable impartial arbitrator.
k. We ask that you modestly clean up after yourself including wiping down table tops and doing a bit of sweeping. Owner will do the laundry and vacuuming. Please take garbage and recycling taken to bins in garage. Place leftover non-meat food including vegetables, bread, etc. in the compost pile outside. Orange compost bowl is on top of dishwater. Take all meat product waste with you, please, so it doesn't smell up the place.
l. Keep the property and all furnishings in good order
m. Only use appliances for their intended uses
n. Dogs and other non-feline pets are permitted only with prior approval and the Pet Addendum must be completed. Cats are not allowed under any circumstances.
o. Parking: Parking is limited to five (5) vehicles. Vehicles are to be parked in driveway or just to the right of driveway at 90 degree angle.
p. Housekeeping: There is no daily housekeeping service. While linens and bath towels are included in the unit, daily maid service is not included in the rental rate. We suggest you bring beach towels.
q. Wood Stove: Is not to be used under any circumstances.
r. Water and Sewage: The property is on a municipal water & sewage system. The sewage system is very effective; however, it will clog up if improper material is flushed. DO NOT FLUSH anything other than toilet paper. No feminine products should be flushed at anytime.
s. Access: Guest shall allow Homeowner access to the property for purposes of repair and inspection. Homeowner shall exercise this right of access in a reasonable manner.
t. Local Contact. You may call our local contact in Shelter Cove if you have any immediate problems and if can not reach the owner who lives 45 minutes away.
