Its like living on a Namibian farm in the city :) Rooms, living room and bathroom all have high wooden ceilings and tiled floors. The main room has big built in cupboards which will have some space made available. The smaller room is much more simplistic. Sometimes only the smaller room will be available but sometimes the whole place will be open when I am away. The kitchen has all the basic appliances and crockery etc. The bathroom has a shower and bath, toilet and basin. The garden is still largely undeveloped due to water restrictions but has a private patio which has a nice view. Many animals live on the property such as ground squirrels and mongooses. Guinea fowl and a large variety of birds also frequent the property as well as two porcupines who come onto the property at night to see what has been left out for them. All kitchen scraps and food waste can be left out for the animals. There are horse stables on the property which belong to private owners so are not available to guests. There are other residents on the property which makes it a nice safe living situation but they are far away enough to make it very private. Besides avis dam which is popular for people taking dogs for walks and hiking, there is also a beer garden close by and a gym up the road. Avis is a safe and modest area. A shopping centre and many restaurants and bars are 25 minute walk away or 3 minutes with a bar or 8 minutes by bike. The farm house aims to live in harmony with the environment and animals. Playing music is no problem until a certain time and guests are welcome but no large parties.Guest Access
There is parking for 1 car under a shade net and 2 more cars on the property. The privacy of the other residents and horse stables should please be respected although the community is friendly. A remote and keys will be provided, but an access code is also provided for the gate.Interaction with Guests
Sometimes I am home and then only one room is available. Other times I will be away and the whole house is open. When I am there I can be helpful with information and take you to see some of the sights and sounds of Windhoek and offer great tips on places to see in Namibia and travel advice. There is a yoga studio close by which I teach at also for those who would like to keep up their practice. The Neighborhood
This is a great neighborhood as it is quiet and neither a poor or rich area. Its popular for taking walks in nature.Getting Around
Public transport in Windhoek is not great. There are taxis around but luckily a lot of things are in walking distance or easy with a bike. There is also the option of dial a cab etc.Other Things to Note
This place is ideal for chilled people who want to stay in a more rustic environment which boasts more of the Namibian bush feel but is still close to the city etc.
