← Back to ‘Nudist Travel – Tips, Tricks and the Skinny of Baring it All on Vacation’

Why take a clothing optional vacation? What a question. Well, we’ll start with this: remember that time in Italy when you and your friends decided to hit nude beaches three days in a row? Or in college when you broke into the pool and went skinny dipping? Or maybe you went streaking through the quad and into the gymnasium. Whatever it was, we know you’ve had a thrilling sans-clothes experience and we know there’s a voice in your head that says it might be cool to revisit.

So we’ve sparked the idea. Let’s run (streak?) with it then. Here are some of the top reasons why you should take a clothing-optional vacation.

1. The resorts are pretty sweet

Whether you’re looking for a laid-back poolside weekend in Palm Springs or a more luxurious stay down in Mexico at a nudist resort like Desire Riviera Maya, there are plenty of options out there. You may think this is a niche market, and to a degree you’re right, but the range and quality in resorts will likely surprise you.

2. People get creative without their clothes

Maybe it’s a themed night or a themed resort or a costume party or body painting — clothing-free folks tend to be a creative bunch. Some nudist resorts in the U.S. throw wild Fourth of July parties, others do Halloween get-togethers. Some are more spontaneous and creative in their ideas of nude recreation. It’s rare that the au naturel will let you down when it comes to creativity.

3. Community

Clothing-optional vacations are often great places to meet new folks and make friends. The community is generally welcoming and people often find that the common desire to leave clothing behind can connect some otherwise very different people. Check out the American Association for Nude Recreation if you need further proof.

4. You’ll get a nice tan

Didn’t think about this one did you? You’ll never have a more even tan in your life.

5. Something new for you and your significant other

Maybe the same weekend routine just isn’t doing it for you two. Trying a couples-only clothing optional vacation might be a way to break the norm and experiment.

6. The story

Can’t knock it ‘til you try it. If it ever comes up in conversation, you’ll have the full story. Maybe it’s bad, maybe it’s good, but either way, you’ll be talking from experience.

7. Body image confidence

Sometimes being out naked in front of people or just being naked out in nature is a good way to overcome any insecurities you have about your own body. Naturally, you’ll find that the people around you aren’t perfect either. Sometimes it’s a refreshing wake-up call.

8. A new hobby

If anyone has ever said you’re boring at the party, this certainly changes things.
